Ok guys went to pismo beach for memorial day and i was almost the only tundra there. But i did pretty well i went in the dunes and didnt get stuck. But what i really want to know is what kind of toy hauler can i buy. I dont want to trade my tundra in but i want a trailer thats not laughfable. Also i want a polaris 1000 in the toyhauler. Is this realistic or am i dreaming.

10,000 lbs give or take.look for toy hauler that you like, check the weight, Find out how much all your gear plus water will weigh and go from there. Weight distribution hitch and sway control will definitely help keep it all tame.

There is no cheat sheet. It all depends on your truck. Is it a single cab? Double cab? Crew Max? Is it lifted? What motor? What rear end?

All these will affect your towing capacity.

I've pulled up to 12k with a DC (wouldn't recommend doing that regularly). The tow rating isn't off too much between the DC and CM if I remember correctly.

we bought a 2016 travel trailer that has a dry weight of 4400 lbs. we were using my wifes 2007 pathfinder (tow rating 6k) to pull it but even with a weight dist hitch and airbags i still didnt like towing it. it is 26' long. so i bought my tundra. the day i brought it home my wife started looking at bigger campers :) but my next one will be a fifth wheel.....

Toyhaulers are probably out of your reach with a CM Tundra. If you can find a stripped down version, no generator, fuel station, etc. We looked at the TH for camping and empty they were getting up past my tow rating from my CM (9004 lbs).

Wind resistance is also an ass kicker.

This was around 8K lbs or less, most likely 7800 lbs.

    This was considerably more...

The load of wood was so much easier to tow than the 1903 mile trip I just took with the camper. I would suggest airbags and a really good Load Distribution Hitch.

No, I get what you're saying. That is most likely why we don't own one.

    -expensive
    -heavy
    -cost vs value

Tough call on what to do. Personally, I could not imagine towing over 6k with a Tundra, lift and 35's without a huffer under the hood.

I am currently looking for a toy hauler for my 1900lb race car and I found a company called Forrest river rv. They have a work & play line that will work out for you. As far as the ratings just focus on the gvwr my 13 cm has a 9000lb rating so look at the dry weight plus your toy plus any fluids. Keep it under your trucks gvwr. Also if you get into an accident and you are above your gvwr your insurance won't be there for you.

i have a forest river, (not toy hauler) and love it. it was by far the cheapest one we looked at but it has been a great camper....not as nice as some of the others but literally 10k less than the next one we looked at

Those are pretty awesome TH's. I have a couple buddies with the 38' Gooseneck models.

Not sure what kind of race car you own, how long it is, or anything other than it is 1900 lbs. So take this with a grain of salt and I will show you the problems I had, which might not be an issue for you. I am just assuming here, but guessing you need 13'x6.5' cargo space.

If this is even close, you would be looking at a W&P 25WAB

    http://forestriverinc.com/product-details.aspx?LineID=166&Image=5096&ModelID=1909#Main

    25WAB

    • 11356 lbs. GVWR (This is over your 9000 lb tow rating, but you are not in commerce, another assumption)
    • 1196 lbs. HITCH WEIGHT
    • 7486 lbs. UNLOADED VEHICLE WEIGHT (7486+1900=9386 lbs. over weight without any food, clothing, water)
    • 3811 lbs.CARGO CAPACITY (3811-1900=1911-917=994. With full water and food, car you are good to go on the trailer weight)
    • 30' 0"
    • 11' 5"
    • 102"
    • 110 gal.917.4 LBS IF FULL
As you can see, the hitch weight is way too much, trailer is too much, and is just not advised to look at purchasing.

Here is the link I posted earlier in this thread. The weights are very similar to the camper I own. Soon we are ordering air bags for my CM, and if this doesn't satisfy our safety concerns, another 1 ton truck will be purchased. My CM is the first truck I have owned without airbags, so I am really hoping that this really stabilizes out my rear axle

On more thing to touch on. The Unloaded Vehicle Weight is with no options what so ever.

I figured mine would be just fine with a 6600 lbs dry weight rating. I towed it down to my work site and it weighed ~7200 lbs empty, and that was without propane (bottles were mostly empty). So you can imagine how my surprise was when I put 2 large dogs, family of 4, supplies, water (my tank is in the rear, so that is awesome in taking tongue weight off). When I was all said and done, pretty close to GCWR of the trailer, and hell, I didn't even have a 800 lb quad inside the front. I also call bullshit on the 725 lbs hitch weight. That must be with no propane tanks, full water in the back. I had 2500 lb overloads on my truck and had the LDH at max (1000 lb bars) and the truck still squatted pretty good.

My wife and I are looking at the 222 and 272 of the superlight model. Says even fully loaded with all dealer options and all fluids weight is right at 9995 for the 272. Need a deployment in order to get it though haha.

Hell, even the 24HFS would be a good fit instead of the 18' one.
