Poly LCA bushings???

Does anybody make poly LCA bushings for the second and third gens?? I’m hearing a popping from my front end and I’m fairly certain it’s my 173k LCA bushings since I’ve replaced virtually everything else already. Thanks in advance

 

I wondered the same. My guess would be TC since they make LCAs

 

As of a few months ago according to TC, there isn't a poly LCA bushing available.

 

If you can get measurements you can call energy suspension and they will see if they have anything that will work

I did that for my rear upper shackle pivot bushings. The ones in the frame. They found some gm control arm bushings that were the same size, I just had to trim a little off the length. I saved $200 over what Toyota wanted for them

 

Nice, I’ll try to get some measurements without having to take everything apart again, hopefully they can find something! Do happen to have the part # for the shackles pivot bushing you used?

You should take it apart and measure it with a micrometer, energy suspension measures their bushings down to the hundredths of an inch

 

This 2599 bushing is designed to fit a .750” OD metal sleeve. You'll need a metal sleeve measuring .750” OD x .563” ID x 3.500” for a 9/16th bolt. Part number for the sleeve is “15.10.09.39” and you'll have to trim it a little

Wait, my bad. That sleeve wasn't long enough. We ended up making a new one out of dom. If your current sleeves are in good condition, just reuse those

 

Little update, I ended up buying some OEM take offs to replace mine and decided to replace the steering rack bushings at the same time. Front end is nice and tight again but all that uncovered another problem, I think my shackle pivot bushing is bad. Toyota told me that after they aligned it they took it out for a drive and the rear is loose and it isn’t holding a perfect alignment... so that will be my next project after I get back from Moab and FJ Summit this month. I do plan on pressing out the LCA bushings and measuring it with a caliper to send to Energy Suspension, hopefully they can make something for us.

 

did you end up getting measurements sent out to energy suspension?? Id hate to replace my LCA's for bushings....

 

Not yet, haven’t had the time... I’ll have some days off next week so if I get the time I’ll go out and see what I can get done on it

 

Total Chaos sell LCA bushing for the long travel LCAs. I bet you they are the same size....

you would just need to see if they would also sell you the sleeves for the cam bolts

 

I have 2008 with 127k miles and I replaced mine about 4 months ago with some Moog LCA so far so good .....the master Technician at Toyota was actually impressed with the quality he said they were no different than stock

 

Maybe thats true, but moog for the first gen are garbage

 

Because they can visually tell difference in rubber and a hidden BJ assembly lol

Just buy a used set of LCAs from a salvage yard off a truck with low miles; you can get them pretty cheap. I'm putting on a set this weekend that came off a newer truck with 20k miles. My current bushings and balljoint are shot.

 

Well then what is different about the size?

Its not hard to call energy suspensions and get bushings. But someone needs to take measurements

not so easy here, salvage yards north of the order want a premium, Id like to keep the factory arms and get a poly bushing, which if you look up, I feel I just found our answer

 

Did you mean North of the border? If so I am in Canada as well and found some LCAs down in the US for a very reasonable price and shipping. I agree everything is usually at a premium for us.

 

yup canada, but heres the deal by the time i get in alberta half way up the province I could have bought 1.5 arms already from rock auto, it still does not resolve the point of this thread of looking for a poly bushing

9 is the front bushings, 8 is rear

You need both, 241.30 for both kits from energysuspension

Both kits come with 2 bushings each!

 

ive ordered both kits, Ill be expecting these by next week and ill see if I can get them swapped out next weekend!
