Had my 3rd toyota care appointment today

All was well with the exception of the cabin air filter, seems a furry little critter had moved into the air box somehow and chewed a big ass hole into the filter.

Sigh...had it replaced of course now to set out more poison. Some of you may remember a few months ago I had a wire chewed in half under the hood. I hope this filter episode was a just a carry over from that and either the critter has moved on or died from previous poison.

Now what I do not understand is how something can crawl up into the box where the cabin air filter is located?

 

Where is that located? Ya I know dumbass question...

 

Lmao I bought a 2014 CM SR5 4WD bought a fram febreeze cabin filter when I changed out old one ther was rodent droppings on top of old filter wondered how they got ther and ther was knaw markings on engine cover

 

I would caution you in the strongest possible terms to not use poison. A poisoned mouse died in my wife's Tacoma and we had to disassemble a lot of the truck to remove the stinking, rotting, maggot ridden carcass and her dead brood. As hard as it is to remove the stench from their urine and feces, it is worse getting the dead critter smell out.

Use traps, lots of them and in lots of locations. good luck...

 

My 2013 had something die in it in September of that year..took months to get the smell out never found what it was, dealership poked around as well they could not find it

Hopefully it was from the previous critter, that's unfortunate though.

 

The smell will dissipate over time.

 

Those of us that keep classic cars in the garage know a little trick to keep critters out of our cars. Dryer sheets. Put sheets under floor mats and stuffed in other areas you want to keep mice out of. They hate the smell. Makes your ride smell good too.
