I bought this on 1/12/14 and have added a code alarm remote start, an Alpine head unit with Nav and a backup camera.
I went with the Back-flip on my Tundra. I had an UnderCover on my Tacoma but I didn't like how it limited me vertically w/o removing it.

If I go with one, I would probably get the retractable one...lighter weight, and pretty sturdy from my understanding.

Since getting the Tundra I've been wanting a cover I could put real weight on top of. After looking high, low and sideways for months, I finally came across what I was looking for with the Diamondback HD cover. It's at the top of my mod list right now. I'm just waiting on some other stuff to figure out which style of ATV carrier I'm going to need.

Had a truxedo low pro on my Tacoma. Really liked it because it was easy to roll up and you didn't loose any bed space. Full access to the bed.

If I get one I'm going with a Bakflip. I had a soft Extang trifold on the Taco that was pretty good. I want a hard trifold this time though and like the low profile of the Bakflip. Still haven't decided 100% that I'm getting one though.

Have an Extang Trifecta vinyl cover. I like it. It is easy to install and take off. If and when I upgrade, I would like to go with a solid trifold for more security.

Just picked up a SR5 TRD extra cab that has the rail tie downs. Any thoughts or suggestions for a tonneau cover? I had the tri fold on my gen1 and liked it but sometimes in the way if I need the whole bed. Not sure how or if the tie down rails come into play on which route i go. And help or ideas appreciated.

Try not to get the full fiberglass tonneau cover. They are expensive and a bitch to take off and reinstall if you wanted to carry a fridge or something tall. Toyota wanted 16 hours (2 guys one full day) to reinstall my tonneau cover. Get the trifold or the soft top kind. Good luck and welcome to Tundras.com

I had a low pro truxedo on my Tacoma and loved it. Rolled out of the way when I needed the bed.

The Undercover Flex tri-fold Tonneau uses the existing rails of the Tundra cargo management system to mount the rails for the tonneau cover . BaK Flip doesn't.
I spoke with Undercover flex and they directed me to their installation instructions that have illustrations that show you how.

Any opinions on the extang? I am looking for a trifold, but don't want to relocate the bed rails. I was alson thinking about installing a snowboard rack into the top of the trifold somehow....but not sure how that is going to work out just yet.

A friend of mine has the extang trifold (I think that's what its called), he loves it. He takes it on/off all the time if he needs to use the full bed BC it is so easy to do.

Just installed an Accesss Lorado. Easy, cost $370. Great customer support. If I'm ordering anything I always look at the reviews especially customer support. Just so happened I got the wrong clamps for the rails.(my fault). Called Access and had the new ones in 2 days. My friend has one on his 04' tundra since it was new. Just started showing wear on the cover and velcro is getting worn out. Know this; He's used the truck for his construction business and he is very "careless" when it comes to taking care of his stuff. I don't think 10 years isn't a bad life span under the conditions.

Finally got my Diamondback installed and ready to go. It was far from free, but is going to be worth every dime-

I just purchased and installed the BakFlip VP. I do have the rail system in the bed with the bed liner. The rails have to be moved down (there is a kit I received with the cover). No new holes have to be drilled. Install was done by myself. It took about a half an hour. If I had to do it again, it would take 15 minutes. I highly recommend the VP cover. Very secure once tailgate is locked. Any questions please reach out.

Had to switch to a different cab guard, but finally have everything good to go. Now I'm ready to hook up the trailer and hit the road-

Also, thanks for merging the two 'tonneau' threads!

Ya, it's badass. It's rated for a 1600lb distributed load. That quad with me riding it up there is about 1040. I was expecting the truck to be very awkward to drive, but even with completely stock suspension, the truck handles really well. Just slow down for corners/curves and it's fine.

Wow man... That's awesome! I had no idea something like that was available. Hey those tires look good on the stock rims.

When I went back to my local shell dealer looking for a tonneau for this truck, I told him I was looking for something that I could haul weight on top of. He told me that no such thing existed. Well, he was either lying or clueless because I stumbled across these completely by accident online one day. The ablilty to keep the box usable and secure while still hauling the quad, plus a trailer is outstanding.

Thanks! I'm really happy with this tire/rim combo as well.

That is nice. How long are the ramps you use to get the quad up that high?
