Scammed on eBay

Ive been on eBay since day one have watched various scams come and go through the years. Ive bought items and ended up with a priority letter, they do this so it shows something delivered and then paypal will release the payment. Ebay had cracked down really hard over the years, but lately it seems more scam auctions are popping up.

Tip... Whenever I order something on ebay I start a video with my phone as soon as I receive the package. I go over all sides slowly to show no tampering with the package and video it being opened.
Scams work both ways, buyers have been know to try and rip off reputable sellers too and dont discount that someone within the shipping company stole the item and replaced it.

 

Haven’t bought anything off eBay for years but I basically started my Maytag engine collection from eBay and never had any real issues

I used to sell on eBay a lot. Like others have said. Always sides with the buyer now. I sold two bikes once and shipped them both the same day. Buyers both received wrong bikes? I still don’t believe I fd that up. I think Fedex did? That could be the case with your item. Check what the seller has sold recently and see if he sold a glass jar? Good luck. D

I bought a Dewalt item at an incredible price from a reputable seller, and it never shipped. Luckily I called Ebay, and was able to get it resolved fairly fast after they contacted the seller. He stated it WAS NOT his item, and Ebay then discovered he had been hacked. Funny thing, I had the item saved as a preference and kept noticing the same verbiage, & same price pop up from different sellers. I would point it out to Ebay, and it wouldn't be long the listing would disappear. I couldn't help but wonder how many accounts had been hacked.

I’ve bought on eBay for years, Amazon has curbed that. If it’s cheaper, I don’t need it right away, and I don’t expect to return it, I go through eBay, must be reputable. Some stuff gets held at customs and can take 3 months or more! But usually it arrives within a month from China, a week or so from over the border.

I’ve noticed some scammers can build a fake reputation. For the most part I don’t usually spend more than $100 on eBay. If I do I’m going through their ratings, and checking if there are reviews on them online.

PayPal will fix this, attach pics to your dispute file.

I don’t like EBay and I avoid it like the plague.
I sold a Scotty Cameron putter to some clown in Arizona. He emailed a couple days after receiving it and said his wife got him a putter for his bday and wanted to return mine. I told him sorry.
He filed with EBAY and said I misrepresented the length which I did not. eBay basically told me I had to accept the return. F- eBay.

 

Sorry, but fuck eBay and PayPal together as a team. Paypal by itself is better. I bought a turtle feeder from eBay and it was sent used with some sort of left over food in it. Was advertised as new and when I contacted seller they said we were lying that it wasn’t used but it was clearly used as I’m not an idiot and know what a new feeder looks like. I had pictures to prove everything. Sent to seller, eBay and PayPal. All of which backed the seller and didn’t get my money back. I threw away the feeder and bought the same one for 20 dollars less on Amazon and with prime shipping. The money was not the issue as being in a saltwater reefing guy I’ve blown thousands on coral and fish just to watch it die in a day. I feel worse about the coral or fish dying then losing several hundred dollars in minutes. It’s ebay being shady and PayPal just agrees with eBay if they decide not to give you your money back. Buyer beware of eBay. Fuck ebay once again. Sorry for the language. Still pissed about it. No longer buy shit from eBay. Plenty of other legitimate places to buy from.

I’ve never sold on eBay. Other than some delays, 99% of my purchases have been great. Currently saved $200+ on Katzkins coming my way. A lot of my Tundra mods are eBay buys.

 

Yea. That was the crap that soured me. I should admit that I bought TRD decals the other day that were damaged during transport and the seller was outstanding.
A++ service. I 99 percent of the time go through Amazon and have great luck.
It work out well though because I found @DecalsByDesign and he is making me some cool looking Vinyl.
I know a lot of people like you that have great success on EBay but I’m not one of them..

I have never shopped from Ebay, hell I barely use Amazon. I did use Amazon when I was in school, can't beat the book prices.
I like to touch the stuff I buy before I buy it. Even when I was thinking about my RCI protection steps, I touch and stood on them up at TT before I was convinced. I think I made T-Rex nervous.

I won a bid, the guy didn't like the end price, and simply didn't ship. Did the whole appeal process and after few weeks, sent a letter to both telling them to take a leap off a tall building. Ebay used to have an insurance process and an mediator that you could pay extra for. They removed the service because people were being honest. Now a portion are dishonest, holding our money for weeks, and PayPal is the only salvation to claw your money back.

I deleted the eBay app. Amazon is quicker, more transparent and responsive to customers
