Scammed on eBay

hey guys
Long time no talk since I went to the dark side (Audi). Just wanted to post this here so it doesn’t happen to any of you. I ordered a $485 Valentine One Radar Detector Package from a reputable dealer on eBay. Bubble mailed Package showed up today, the box inside seemed kind of small. I open it up and there’s a heavy glass jar in the box. That’s it. My guess as a filler for weight. I’m BEYOND pissed right now. I’ll give the seller some time before I post his name here.

 

did you pay with paypal ? they can hold the money and get it back for you.

Agree. It’s pretty clear what happened here. Unless of course the seller also dabbles in selling knockoff “antique” jars and got your order mixed up.

 

Post the sellers name

 

Open a case and call Ebay as well

 

Hopefully it was an accidental, but that is really messed up if it was intentional.

I have received the wrong item by mistake a few times. And I dont use Ebay very often. In college I ordered a truck part for my 99 Tacoma and got a signed Jason Witten Jersey lol. Seller told me to just keep it and still sent me the right stuff. I sold the Jersey on ebay

 

I have only been burnt on ebay once and PayPal got my money back fast.

 

I’d have taken that jersey, found the nearest Cowboys fan, and burned it in front of them.

I would give the seller a shot to make it right. You even mentioned "reputable dealer" in your post. He obviously didn't earn that rating by screwing people over. I would guess it's an honest mistake or the item was stolen during shipping. Either way, good luck getting it sorted out!

 

i was a longtime seller on ebay. i quit because paypal/ ebay ONLY sides with the buyer. (one time i sold a signed basketball for $550 and they asked for a return-i received an empty envelope with a tracking number. they kept the money and the ball) in your case this obviously works twoards your advantage. paypal will definitely take care of you. they are great when it comes to customer service involving purchases...sales, not so much. theyre open 7 days a week 8-8. give em a call. theyll take care of you i promise. best of luck man!

What happened to the OP?

 

Sometimes the shipping company will damage boxes and repack. In the mix of that the labels got flipped because the weights were similar.
Happened to us at work last week.
We got someone else’s parts.

 

Don't feel bad, years back when Ebay was starting up, I bought a Dell Gaming laptop for $2000.00 after the wife told me not to and got this,
