I have a trail/mountain bike. My question for any one that has the knowledge.
Can I get a set of thinner rims (road wheels) for a lack of a better term. I dont want to spend the money on a road bike.
I would like to have 2 sets of rims one for trail and the other for road, like cruising around Garden of the Gods. Any input would be appreciated.

Depends on a few factors. You would have to get a road wheel the same size and same cog set 7-8 speed and what kind of brakes do you have ? Disc, canti’s they would have to match
I would just look for the thinnest mtb tires and go that route

I never thought about a thinner tire. I have disc brakes.

Pat, I know your afraid to come over to my house again due to hail damage, but don’t you think this is a little extreme?

:rofl:Got to start doing something again to stay active. Dodging hail is too labor intensive. Until I get my MRI on my shoulder no more serious gym time. Running just hurts my back and knees too much. Mrs. Grumpy (Ms. Happy) bought me a nice bike a couple of years ago that is just hanging in the garage. Decided to put it into use before I become lazy.

Just change the rubber. No need to buy new wheels.

@ColoradoTJ. I am also looking to increase the mileage on my truck. I'll be running 27" wheel and tire combo, 16 speed tranny. Keeping the speed around 17-20 mph.:D

    27"x1.75 or 2.0, I think.

I'll do that! I even have a DD that's about 16 years old. How does some Graham Cracker Porter sound?

    Sounds delightful.

I actually might be going to your sons breakfast. We go down to fountain every year for this event.

Cool, the Breakefast will be at the Aragon Elementary School this year not the middle school like in years past.

I’ll let you know if we head down there.

If not, we can meet up. I’m in fountain a lot. No reason for you to drive or ride 30 miles north. Lol

I'm down for either! Now that my truck isn't here, I like putting miles on my wife 4R and boys Taco.
