This morning on the way to work I saw that I picked up a screw in the tire and it was leaking about 2 lbs per hour. Since I was going right past the dealer (where I bought my 2018 CrewMax about 6 months ago), I stopped to see if it was covered. They said when you drive off the lot, the tires are your responsibility. We will fix it for $35.

I said no thanks and went to Discount Tires. They fixed it right away and said, “No Charge”
    That’s what I’m talking about!

$35 Would mean the dealer will repair it correctly by dismounting the tire, install a plug patch on the leak remount and balance.
No charge means they just plugged the leak. You want a plug patch not just a plug, the only way to install a plug patch is to remove the tire as the patch part is adhered to the inside of the tire.

True! Discount Tire only does it the right way. They're actually a really good company.

I buy all my tires from them. Definitely not always the cheapest, but service is second to none.

They will negotiate and beat other deals and match Costco.

I think my dealer is pretty good as far as dealers go, but I’ll take Discount Tire for tire matters any day of the week over any dealer. I’ve been dealing with the same branch for 13 yrs and have always had excellent service.

I'll be the outlier, I've plugged a dozen or so tires with a Safety Seal kit and never had a leak. It's a lot more convenient than pulling the wheel or taking it in for service.

I've plugged quite a few tires on different vehicles. I've had no issues at all. Never had them leak. Never had them come back out.

Had a brand new set of tires on my Ridgeline in 2008. Screw in the tire 1 week later. 2 more plugs over the next 2 years. 40k miles and a new set of tires later.....never an issue.

I've only ever plugged nail and screw holes. If it was a chunk of debris then I had it patched if possible.

Most of the bigger tire companies only do patches due to liability. I worked a short time at tire kingdom and if the boss found a plug kit in one of the tech's boxes, they'd be in some hot water.
