They have a 6 ohm resistor add on option that I got as well. They also sell 3 ohm resistors so if you plan on switching out the rear turns with LEDs as well the 3 Ohms will handle both front and rear.

I can't find anything cheaper that are white like they are supposed to be as DRL. I've had some that are white when I turn my lights all the way on, but revert to amber as soon as I turn them off.
Do you have stock headlights? Thanks

I have spyder headlights but they use the stock bulb harnesses which is what the vleds plug into. I know the LED direct bulb replacements don't work with DRLs. Most even mention this in the fine print. Vleds has a control module that controls the color switch specifically for DRLs. Not sure of anyone else who has a comparable product.

Hmm. I would think that an '08 limited would come with DRLs, were they disabled at one point?

I know a couple guys on TW that did not have DRLs had some success with the HVA direct replacement bulbs that are meant for turn signals. Vleds makes these too http://www.vleds.com/3157ck-42-hv-wa-6k.html. I think this required running another hot wire to the blinkers in order to keep the whites on as running lights. But that makes me think... If the LED direct replacement switchbacks do not work with DRLs and only for turn signals, then you would think by disabling the DRLs and installing a direct replacement bulb would work...

Yeah they are suppose to but problem is this truck was sold in a state where it wasn't mandatory so it was an option that cost more previous owner obviously went without. To get it it will cost me around 700 buckaroos ugh no thanks..

The HVA needs to have DRL function as well to switch from white to amber(if I'm reading this correct) being there is no power supply to a socket in the plug for DRL circuit I don't see how it would switch. Only functionality I see is brighter turn signals

Right. Thats why it requires running another hot wire to the turn signals to power the white. You would have to check the sockets to see if they are dual filament (I suspect they are since they are also used as DRLs) and run the additional 12v there. The new hot wire powers the white and the bulb looks for the turn signal voltage to know to switch from white to amber.

I'll look into this thank you but I believe it may be easier to run a power source lol thanks for the help

I'm looking at possibly disabling my DRL so they only come on as blinker light. Then maybe put white led strip in my light housing, seen a few that look really good. Some spyder headlights come with that white led looking strip around the edge.

I have Spyders and the LED strip that curves around the headlight is not very bright and only comes on with the parking lights. Not very noticeable during the day. Wonder if anyone has modded them to make the led strips the DRLs.

Would you happen to have a video of these switchbacks with your headlights on? and possibly with your parking lights off so we can see what they look like just as DRL/blinkers?

Yeah, I saw that last night and went ahead and ordered these switchbacks. Guess I just opened the door to my next mods (Leds).

Thanks for posting this! Those switchbacks combined with your spyders looks great. So great you got me sold on buying at least the switchbacks. Now I'll have to think about those headlamps too.

Yeah I love them, only downfall is they make my stock bulbs look yellow lol. Need to change those out next.

So I did notice this morning that my passenger side bulb was not switching to amber when turning my right turn signal on. I checked all the fuses which were good then switched the driver and passenger side bulbs to see if it may have been a faulty bulb which turned out to be. I called Vleds tech support and within 5 mins of explaining my issue and what I did to troubleshoot the guy said he would ship another bulb to me at no cost. He said he hasn't seen many of these cases but can happen. These come with a lifetime warranty and stacked with their awesome customer service I am glad I paid the extra for these. Just shows that you do get what you pay for.

Sorry to hear about the bulb, but happy to hear they're going to make things right. Good to know I should be fine with any issues I might have.

As for the headlights, I've ordered some LED's that hopefully will match the switchbacks as well as fit the Spyder headlamps if I should go that way.

Just realized that you said "stock" bulbs. Does that mean the Spyders don't come with bulbs or did you mean stock Spyder bulbs. If by stock you meant the bulbs that came with the Spyders, will the original OEM bulbs fit? I purchased some GTR LED's and they fit into the lamps the same way as the OEM bulbs.

Honestly I cant remember if they came with bulbs or not. They might have come with the high/low beam bulbs but not the DRL/turn. Either way they are made for halogen bulbs so the OEM bulbs will fit, so you should be fine with your GTRs. @ToyTec Lifts has spyders with vleds in them so I know its possible to upgrade these with LEDs. I remember reading some comments on a couple sites that mention these are not compatible with some LED bulbs as the projector is not deep enough.

Brother, I sure do appreciate your help. One last question though, how is the low/high beam light projected forward through the Spyders. Looks like they don't use reflectors like our OEM units which some people believe don't work well with LED's.

Normally projectors have a lower cutoff that limits the light output to the top of the projector that results in high beams. To be honest I'm not sure if spyder uses the same method or just repositions the bulb to project the light farther.

So received my Spyders and upon inspection I have come to realize that they use H9 halogen bulbs which are not the same as the OEM bulbs so GTR bulbs will not fit the Spyders. Guess I'll have to exchange them for interior led bulbs. Not sure how to make any of the VLed bulbs work, but I found that with a retrofit we can use the Mini D2S projectors and bulbs. Pretty costly option so I'm going to try some H9 4000k Piaa bulbs first.

Just got my install done last night ...
And first off want to say thank you for hooking me onto the VLed switchbacks. Love how they function. I was wondering if you hooked up the dim feature though. Since the light output of the switchbacks is so bright I'm tempted to try it.

Looks good! After a couple weeks I hooked up the dim wires. I felt like I was blinding people at night when I was behind them. I used fuse taps and tapped them into the headlight fuses. Looks a lot better at night!

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm worried about. The combination of being in a truck with these vleds being so bright will not make some people happy. Got any pictures or video showing how you connected your dimming wire? Plus any video of the feature in action??
