My friends grandmother owned a bunch of properties. We would mow the lawns for $1 each.

My first “company” type job was KFC. Free chicken at the end of every day. It was glorious.

Iv worked as long as I can remember. Dad was a hard ass. Remodeling rental properties, woodworking for the family side business which later became full time. (dad had full time job at Boeing), weekends for a couple years my grade school principals baseball card shop. This is all before high school. Think first job ever was picking bagworms for a penny a piece.

Paper route in Montana. I had 125 customers, which in turn also became my lawn/snow removal business customers. I would get up every morning at 0400, wrap papers and go deliver them before 0600 in the morning.

I had 3 vehicles, two MX bikes, a street bike and plenty of cash in HS...started this at 9 years old.

During high school worked with my dad doing frame building. sucked balls. But when I start getting tired of my job I think back to how it was working outside in the summer. That's enough to shut me up and put me back to work.

It was to create a hybrid .you would take a small waxed paper bag, find the top shoot on a corn plant and cover the shoot. The shoot is what turns into an ear of corn. Doing this kept any plant from polinating the shoot when it began to silk. This way you could take pollen from another variety of corn and cross polinate the plant. We just called the bags corn condoms since they were a white waxed small bag.

This is the basic way to create a hybrid .takes about 8 seasons to get a possible hybrid. So four years or so. The corn would be harvested and shipped to another climate to get planted and grown again. So a lot of ours ended up in Argentina, Hawaii or France.

Bicycle Center USA in Redondo Beach. Started in highschool. I race BMX back then and that was the logical move for me. Do something you love. Started as a "gofer" making $4 an hour cash, then moved up to mechanic and sales, building custom mountain bikes per the customer specs for thousands of dollars. Plus side was I got parts for dealer cost.We were a White Brothers retailer too (motorcycle parts supplier) so I got dirt bike parts for cost too. Spent about 4 years there and ended up somewhat managing the place when I quit. Worked nearly every weekend for 4 years some of while in high school. By the end of my time there I had started to hate bicycles. After I quit I didn't ride one for a year. Mind you that was thing thing I lived for at the time. I was burned out.

Irrigation technician (changed sprinkler pipe) and paper boy around 10. Pipe before school. Papers after. All that had to be done before little league practice.

First non farm job was bagger at Slaveway. What a culture shock to a 16 year old who worked on/around $100k farm equipment and OSHA wouldn't allow me to put cardboard into a compactor because I wasn't 18.

Was raised on a ranch in Oregon and was doing the usual chores at 10yrs old before school and after which evolved to changing the irrigation and the "hay" thing in the summer. At 14 I got my first official job working on the Woolley Ranches on weekends and summer.
