You do or don’t want a V8 in the new gen?

I’ve given up on it. I love the sound and manliness of it, but they are a dying breed we can only hold out as long as we can. Say what you will about dodge but at least they are sticking huge Hemis in Durango’s hahahaha

I don't think Toyota will abandon the V8, and one of the main reasons is NASCAR.

My understanding is that the manufacturers have to have a production model with the engine they run in NASCAR. The 5.7 is used by Toyota (obviously it's set up a bit...different) in the Tundra, the Chevy V8 was run in that failed Chevrolet SS Sedan, and perhaps the V8 Ford is running is a variant of the one in the F150 or Mustang. I don't know. But I don't think any of the manufacturers could ever abandon the V8 if they wish to continue in that series.

I know this might seem like a weird statement, especially considering NASCAR's popularity is dwindling, but I have faith that the V8 isn't going anywhere. You mention Dodge, I've seen some YouTube videos where apparently they are running a hybrid V8 and have apparently figured out how to make it work. My guess is we'll see something like that. Just please, Toyota, none of that direct injection crap you used in that 3.5 that ruined the Tacoma.

I don't see them getting rid of it. Maybe a smaller displacement one, but I would like to see them add D4S to the engine like they did on the Tacoma. Then mate it to the 8 speed they put in the LX.

I’m really just hoping they beef up the TRD pro. I could care less anymore if it’s an 8 or a 6. I won’t miss the rumble near as much as say I would a sports car.

I’ve modded many vehicles and I really just want a bad ass stock offroad truck.

At least locking rear, crawl mode for giggles, beefed up suspension, reinforced frame, etc. proper tires, some nice soft touch added, get rid of some of the cheap plastic. And I’d like to see a small dose of tech. Doesn’t need to be over the top, just a bit.

    I’d pay the premium too.

I’ve written off the 2019. We will see what they do in 2020, if they don’t give it some love I’m off to raptor land. Which still isn’t a bad choice. I’d just prefer to be in a Toyota.

I do, I use my truck as a truck. I pull a trailer 5-6 days a week and it's always loaded. I haven't even had my truck 2yrs yet and hit 34k miles, I love this thing.

If they stuff some bs small turbo engine in the next gen it will be a sad day.
