Took a 2 hour ride in my buddies 1500 crew cab or whatever the bigger 4 door is. I have to say I wasn't impressed. It was quieter inside the cabin and it had dual climate control on a pretty base model, also locking tailgate handle. There were 4 adults and it was cramped in there, no where near the space as my crewmax. Seemed underpowered. It sits quite a bit lower too. I could reach into the side of the bed and touch the bed floor, cant come close in my truck although I guess that would be nice. The ride was rough and bumpy with lots of vibes and rattles in the cab, my coffee was shaking so much it was spilling while sitting in the cup holder.
I have ridden in a gmc 2500 before and it was much nicer, closer to the tundra IMO. Same goes for Ford f150 vs 250. It's almost like we have an HD truck when compared to others in the tundras class.
    That is all

We were going to a golf fundraiser scramble.
Car choices were his truck, jeep grand Cherokee, or my tundra. Jeep was a complete no go, we couldn't even fit all our clubs. So it came down to the trucks. The guy with the Chevy 1500 doesn't drink....so that made up my mind right there. The tundra stayed parked and I had a few beers, ok more than a few, it was a good time.

You sure that it was a crew cab and not a double cab? The differences between a GM CC and Crewmax is very minimal. Rear leg room is 1.37" more and Front hip is 1.87" more. Everything else is equal or GM is bigger. Could be design features though. Sometimes manufacturers just go overboard and make it feel cramped inside the ol' cockpit.

The 5.3 is not for anything more than going in a Jeep transplant or something like a entry level muscle car. A truck is just a bad idea. I did a review on one the other month, it did ok towing my camper, but it didn't get up to anything over 50 mph and no real passes.

There isn't much to be impressed about on Chevy trucks. Some of the diesels are pretty strong but their gas powered trucks aren't great.

My brother has a 2005 GMC Sierra (gay man's chevy) with under 100k miles and it seems to be sidelined twice a year. My 03 Tundra at 230k miles has never been inoperable.

Maybe it was the crew cab Chris. He said he needed the most space cuz he has 3 kids. He also has the 1st row bench. You may be right cuz the 2500 I was in seemed much more spacious than his 1500.

But, but didn't you see. Chevy has one like every JD Power's award since the government bail out. How can this be so...............

I drove a Ram Rebel for a day. On the street it absolutely crushes the Tundra. Super quiet, excellent suspension, lots of power, smooth transmission, etc. It literally feels like driving a car. Fit and finish was excellent too. No rattles, squeaks, loose trim pieces.

Off road: it drove like a wagon with square wheels. even with the bags set to off road height. It has a rear locker but who cares, I would never take it off road. A stock Tundra kills it off road compared to the Ram, its not even close.

Everything depends on what you are buying the truck for. If you just want a truck as a daily driver and you'll never load it up or drive on shtty roads, Ram is a good choice. If you need a truck as a tool to do truck sht with, get a Tundra.

As for reliability, I can't comment on the Ram, it only had 200 miles on it and I was driving it for a Ram commercial

Except when you look at our payload numbers......

I agree with you on the cabs in the Chevy feeling small. They boast a ridiculous number for front legroom. I am not sure where they measure from, but it is not more than what I have in the Tundra (I think they claim something like 3" more than the Tundra). It is bunk. I am 6'8", and all of the new Chevy trucks I have test driven feel cramped to me.

I drive a 2017 GMC SLE Z71 4wd for work. It has no where near the room as my 2016 tundra. It is a crew cab, with the bigger doors but is no where near as roomy as a tundra. The 2013 ford f150 I drove before the gmc was roomy like the tundra. The GMC also does not ride near as good as the tundra or F150. The GMC does have power, but only if you mash the pedal. Take off easy or when slowing down and then speeding up again it feels like it is stuck in 4 cylinders. The GMC does get good fuel mileage by itself on the highway. But when towing it is very comparable to a Tundra.

You were most likely in a crew cab like originally stated.
I was just looking at the number comparison, not the design. Some design engineers can make an inch seem like the Grand Canyon and they did a great job doing it. My CM always felt VERY spacious inside.

Guess that’s the trick though. Take a certain space, and optimize the shit out of it.
