Yeah buddy. Thats the one. Section 179! Thanks for the correction.
It also works on used vehicles as long as the proper criteria are met.

I like livin' in TX, and I like my '13 Limited, last of the "2nd Gen" trucks. Paid a reasonable price, has more features than the "3rd Gen" models, my DFC plates for TX registration are free each year, and only a one time sales tax.

And it still runs like new.

That is a lot for fuel. Getting the Subaru Crosstrek has really helped now. The fuel bill was usually close to 750 every month having the Tacoma and Lexus daily driving. The Subaru gets 34-36 mpg consistently.

What makes it even more expensive is good Jeep trails (for my kind of trails) are a minimum of 1 hour away. Most of them are at least 2.5-4 hours of towing one way, and through the Rocky Mountains. Two trips per month can really run up the diesel fuel bill (around 280.00).

You guys want to see truck prices come down? Stop buying them! Drive your truck just one more year. Dealers will drop the price to move what is on their lots. It's about supply and demand and everyone wants trucks these days.

I refuse to pay these ridiculous prices. I took my daughter's Ford Edge to the shop about a year ago and looked at an F150 4x4 Platinum Crew Cab and the sticker was 64,700. I will never pay that for a pickup truck and then drive to home depot and throw a 2x4 in the bed, so why have the truck?

In 5 years, the Ford would probably lose half that value so that is a 32k loss. You could take the same 32k, buy a used Tundra, drive it 5 years, and still get probably 20-25k for it, for a net loss of 7-12k. I prefer that amount of loss to a 32k loss any day.

I guarantee if they capped loan lengths at 36-48 months vs 72-84 months, it would have a much better effect on lowering prices

Yeah, but the banks get kick-backs. Why would they, ya know?

You bet it would. I have a maximum time myself. If I can't pay the vehicle off in 3 years, then I can't afford it. I have never borrowed longer than 5 years, but I have never taken longer than 3 years to pay it off. My goal is to pay off my current truck in 2 years and I am on target to do that but I only paid 17,500 for mine.

I paid 31,000 out the door 2016 off-road with 40k DC. That's a little rough. I'd rather get a few years old and drop 20k in suspension "headlights and hood scoops". Just sayin lol
