Year old 2018 sitting on a lot - would you buy or pass ?

So I came across this Tundra that has been sitting on the dealer's lot for a year and they are listing as a new truck.
    https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/new/s...=false&filtersModified=true#listing=187463280

What's the dealer doing with a truck that has a desirable color combo with the options I am looking for ?

If it has been "sitting" on the lot for a year what can I expect short of a dead battery ?

While most dealers in the area are discounting about 8% off MSRP, would you make a reasonable offer on this particular truck ?

    Or would you pass ?

I am worried it's a dealer demo, dealer unwind, loaner or something weird.

Is there a way to find out if the VIN number has been punched ????

Absolutely..that’s what a lot of us do. When the new ones are hitting the lots you buy the previous year for a good price. Most dealers only have a handful of 19s but a ton of 18s still.
Def not paying near 48k tho....

Go there and talk to them you will get a deal done in 10 minutes.
Tell them you would rather have a 19 with the color you want and you really don’t like that color etc. they will offer a good price and then go from there.
Should get that for real cheap.
Let’s just say in Vegas without even negotiating right now they are offering 47k for a 18 1794s

    How many miles on it?
I got a managers demo Tacoma in 08 when the 09s came out. Had about 5k miles on it and got a great price on it. I was there for frame recall, the manager drove in in it and I asked if I could buy it. He cleaned out his stuff, changed the oil washed it, and handed me the keys.

48k is way too much for that truck when it was fresh on the lot. Let alone with 19s out. That could be why they still have it. I’d pay 38k for that in Denver.

It's got 10 miles on it - it's not a loaner. Make a deal on it if you like it. Pay a fair price and enjoy the truck. People get so incredibly wrapped up in making the best deal. If you like the truck and you're happy with the price you paid for it, it's a good deal for you.

Would I make a reasonable offer on it? No. I don't like blue.

The 18 1794 prob sold around 50k, now the 19s are like 53k and should be flooding the lots. I'd say under 42k is a deal.
I got my 15 platinum in late 16 CPO with 14k miles for 40k out the door. They cost the same as the 1794s

    Edit...it bought this was a 1794 edition.
No wonder it hasn't sold. Way overpriced

    Lost track after #1.
Probably because of the price. That's awfully high for an SR5, even with the options.

Or shit it's a sr5 offroad? Then I wouldn't pay over 35 for it. No wonder it hasn't sold....they are asking limited/1794 money for it

Personally I don’t think that is a desirable combo. I don’t like that color, but that is just my opinion. Also that being said and me also being a socal local, that doesn’t seem like a desirable truck dealers would add a typical mark up to or not negotiate on.

That being said if it’s been sitting that long definitely use that to your advantage. My 2017 limited had more levels dealer/port installed options and had a sticker of 51k. I don’t have system sense so idk how much they added to msrp, but think there is room for you to make a deal.

Certainly there is lots of room to make a deal. I bought a Limited with TRD package, predator steps and spray in bedliner and it stickered for less than this truck, before any deals. With the $2k incentives plus the age of the truck you should easily be in the $42k area with little effort and might be able to go lower depending on how much time you want to put into it.

Here's my guess though - it's an outdated 3rd party listing and the truck has been long sold. Been on the site for a year with no pricing or ad updates. High price. Doesn't add up.

Definitely pass. At the most, with options same truck would go for $44k. Not much has changed since I was looking for a truck back in March. I bought a certified 1794 with 13K miles for $38.5 before taxes.

I really like the 1794 trim because of the easy entry/exit seat & steering column feature plus the ventilated seats.

Living in hot Southern California, it's a must to have ventilated seats.

Tires could have developed a flat spot from sitting. Not all tires do this but something to check out.

Platinum has those features as well. The platinum and 1794 seats are quite a bit more comfortable than the limited and pro leather. Spend a little more now, you wont regret it. I like platinum over 1794 because there's no exterior chrome and no fake wood interior trim.

If it was lifted, with wheels/tires, fully dechromed (TRD Pro grill, etc.) with a supercharger I could possibly see paying 48k for it. As is, that price is absurd

I was lucky enough to spend a weekend or about 8 hours of driving and riding in my buddies 16 limited a month before I went truck shopping. That weekend is actually what pushed me to trade my taco for a tundra. I loved his tundra minus the seats. The first truck I test drove was a pro which wasn't more comfortable, the second was my platinum. It was a huge difference in comfort, I was shocked to be honest. I was sold at that point.

It's been on that lot for that long because that dealership doesn't budge on pricing. They were one of the many dealerships that I reached out to in May when looking to get my 18 Cement CM. Their deals were shit and kept sending me quotes on the wrong color and truck with a 4.6L in hopes that I'd show up in person.
