Thanks man. My secret is a heat gun, Coors Banquet, and some well-timed profanity.

Seriously though, the heat gun is like 70% of it. Don’t stretch it too much and make sure to work the bubbles out as you go. I had to re-do that depressed area a few times until it looked right. It’s even still bubbling a teensy bit but because of the shape it just looks normal.

The shifter bezel took 3-4 tries. The plate that the bezel goes into was decently easy, but the bezel was extremely difficult. Ended up cutting a strip about 3/8” wide and laying that around the inside of it horizontally, then laying another piece on top of it that layed down over it. To be honest if I were to do it again I’d just paint it. It didn’t turn out that great and it wasn’t worth the time spent. There’s just only so much stretching that the vinyl can do before it starts rebounding, and this piece was a little beyond that limit.

 

Guess I'll breathe now Bailey, was holding my breath the whole time figuring since I was such a loyal customer I had a great shot lol

 

I used the amber license plate LED bolts from Super Bright LED. I wired them to go on with the ignition for now, may change that later, it was easiest with what I had in my wiring supplies without buying a fuse tap.

Thanks for the tips, wish I had gone the paint route... bought 5 feet of MGM color match wrap. Might just call it a loss and get the spray to match.

 

I'm disappointed for you Mike. I would lead the boycott, but I love BD lights and need more.

What did you ever do about the shifter boot mod?

 

What fender flares are those

 

Nothing yet Jim, I'm picking up the surround from hydrodip today. So I'll have the shifter, surround, and cupholder all matching the hydrodip pattern. I don't want to change the shifter yet. I'm going to see how it holds up with use. If it peels or doesn't hold up at some point I'll put the tacoma pro knob in with shifter boot like yours. I'm going to give the boot 1 more try later when I get the surround back but I don't think it will fit and look good with my shifter stick now being too short. If it don't look right I'll probably hook up Travis with it. Down the road if I need to I'll just buy another.

 

I tried with the factory one and it didn't work, that's why I switched knobs.

 

Looks like they OEM color matched pocket style usually sold from southern Toyota dealers like in Florida. Made by bushwacker.

 

Yeah I have feeling I'll learn the hard way just like everything else I've ever learned. Where were u to tell me this when u posted pics of yours looking so cool? I could've used that little disclaimer at the end of ur pic. Instead u post yours looking so great and my dumbass thinks I'll do the same with just a little twist on my tundra pro shifter. Of course not knowing the tacoma pro shifter sits up much higher on stick than my tundra pro shifter.

The hydrodip is gonna look good. But the boot with the tundra TRD PRO shift knob is gonna look like Fido's butthole. Not good at all.

EGR color matched fender flares..so far, only brand that has the 3R3 color

 

Added surround and hood bulge, will do caps later. But for now I am happy. Had to go with platinum grill , I also have a black/Gray SR5 grill that I may put in the middle after I paint it.

Looks great. The caps will really finish it off. I'd plastidip them in the meantime. Nothing to lose.

 

Either that or linex/ powered coat, also have a black center I may put in after caps are dealt with. But I do like the new look. Felt like NASA could see me with all that chrome, can't believe what a difference it made.
