Review of Race mode

So yesterday I tried the Race mode (tow/haul) button on my 2017 DC TRD.
It felt like it had shed 1,000 lbs. with just a push of a button.
How in the heck does it do this? Does it electronically change gear ratios?
In Race mode it jumps off the line like it wants to do a wheel stand or something.
I hope I did not hurt my drag truck too much by racing around town in it lol!

HUH LOL... It just switches ECU maps to give more power, it's that simple.

 

Not more power lol just more sensitive throttle and adjusted shift points. Throttle input at say 25% becomes maybe 40% for argument sake with T/H engaged.

Seriously what does it mean and is it naughty to use it too much?

 

Electrical control unit. Basically the computer is what he means. It’s the device that controls your throttle mapping , timing etc. and is what the engine relies on to run properly.

 

I was trying to be subtle. Map curves are obviously different with more power down low. Not necessarily more power overall, that's not what I said or implied.
