Something different than what you normally see on threads. For those who go camping or hiking or fishing or anything outdoors that you use your truck for.

Please put what you did and where (near)

    Pictures welcome!

I use mine for hauling around my dogs and camping and hiking and fishing quite a bit.

Here's mine right after I got it in February. Took a trip to Elk City Lake in Kansas to hike the Elk River trail with my mutts.

This was taken while I was scouting a GWNF (George Washington National Forest) fire access road for camping spots. This is out route 33 West of Harrisonburg, VA. Not a great picture but its pretty back there and out in the middle of nowhere if your into that kinda camping.

Looks good! Mine was the same. I had to take a "access road" off of a dirt road over a mile through hills and creeks and rocks and mud puts to get to where my camp was at. It's controlled by army corps of engineers and serves as an access point for the Elk River trail.

Those are the best kind of camping spots IMO. Have to wheel a little to get to them.

Nice camp! I'd love to go camping up in the northwest area of the country. Heard it's some of the best

If you've got the time, take the 101 down the coast. It'll blow your mind.

I've heard that's the one to take. I'll definitely get on it for a bit. Where's the best camping spot up there you know of?

Being land locked, I'd suggest Salt Creek State Park up on the strait of Juan de Fuca. It's a state campground so pay to play but the geology makes it worth it in my opinion. A lava flow hit the ocean and formed a shelf just above low tide level. When the tide goes out it makes tide pools full of critters to look at. There's also some old WWII gun bunkers you can explore..

If you want a coastal drive, Big Surr on PCH is a beautiful place to visit and they have several campgrounds.

I've heard that is great too. My uncle is getting ready to take a trip in his mustang up the California coast and is planning to make a stop there.

Hoping to see a bunch of pics early next week of guys going camping this memorial day weekend!

Here's mine from this weekend. This was a last minute plan and all our significant other wanted a place were there was water for water craft recreation and some fishing.
@5:30am getting gas and driving to meet up with few other buddies from northern ca.

While driving there with such beautiful weather

we run into this. I surely hope they were ok. You cant see it in the photos but about 1/4 mile up, there was smoke.

It think it was pretty bad to where this was called to the scene.

and with us making a few detours while driving the backroads we finally arrived at our campsite

Two weeks ago I took a road trip in my '05 TRD 4x4 AC to visit friends in gold country, and we took what we thought would be an 'easy' road from Sierra City to the top of Sierra Buttes...switchback up the side of a mountain on single-track rock scree. A vertical climb of maybe 3000 feet in 5 miles or so. Scary as hell. No place to turn back, above the timber line at places, and serious rock on the uphill side, and a serious fall on the downhill side, with the cab always tilted at an angle towards the edge of the cliff. Had to have a buddy scout ahead and spot me at a few places so I didn't can-opener the side of my 'new to me'rig....We were all very impressed. With the Limited slip rear, and in low 4 range, we didn't spin a tire, even on the loose stuff. The truck never bottomed, even though we went over many huge rocks that I was certain would take out my skidplate. Nope. To top it off, on the trip back home, I verified previous checks and got 20mpg at 72-75 mph for the 250 mile trip. My '94 4Runner 4x4 was a bit narrower, but taller, and had a v6 and a 5 speed. I couldn't quite get 20 mpg with it, and would have been a lot more uneasy on that mountain goat trail with the more tippy chassis of the 'runner. Have to say, I love my new Tundra. Fast, comfortable, economical, and wheels really well. If I had been driving a late model Tundra, there was one spot I would of had to can-opener the side of the truck on a huge rock to avoid going over the side of the cliff....the new trucks are simply too big and bulky to be good trail rigs. First Gens Rock!

If you're gonna tow ANYTHING heavier than grandma's biscuits you'll have to help these jive springs in the back. My baby looked sad with the camper on the back going up to the Dell's last month. Got the Hellwig Helper spring kit and it really eased my pain. No noticeable ride difference, I'd go as far as to say they're still soft.... but not sagging like it did

I would like to find a shell to put on my 2000. I had one on my Tacoma and never got a chance to use it :(
Do Dakota or any other tops fit? I guess I need to measure and keep my eye on the classifieds.

My plan was to put a small platform inside and sleep in the back.

You guys are really making me want to get out and head to Colorado.

I was just out there last month. The wife is from Wyoming, we stopped and saw the Badlands and Wall drug as well as the Minute Man Missile sight. The Badlands are really awesome, which I would have had more time to explore them.
