This may be a stupid question, but how tall are the gen threes when you do a 3" leveling lift and sit it on 35s?

I ask because we are building a house and I am trying to decide if I need to pay extra for an 8' garage opening, or will the standard 7' do it? The garage is 20' deep, so the truck should fit length wise with no issues.

Go with the 8 foot garage. I have a 7 foot opening and the antenna was hitting it. I dont have a lift on mine.

A stubby antenna is $20-$50 the taller garage opening is $600-1,500 depending on the door the Mrs picks . . . . tough call if only the antenna hits.

With a 7' garage and 3/1 leveling kit I have about with tires @ 34.5"... 2-3" to spare. But it is TIIIIIIGHT. Gives me anxiety. If I hit a rock or something might have a problem

Yeah, but the OP wants to add a lift kit. My truck only had a few inches clearance. First thing I did was to get a stubby antenna. I would have liked a taller opening.

This. If you can get the 8 foot door seriously consider it.

Also, go look at the top of your antenna and measure how much taller it is above the truck. My stock antenna was about an 1.5 inches too tall. Not sure how much more clearance you would need with the lift kit.

    Let's do the math:

    Stock ht. - 76"
    3" lift - 76+~3" =79"
    Stock tires(33") add 35's - 79"+~2" = 81"
    7' garage opening = 84" ( if it's a true 7' opening )
    84" - 81" = 3" to spare :) if you go with the stubby

The curse of being a custom cabinet maker...making it fit.

wasn't sure if it really was 3 inches taller because the truck is on a rack to begin with and we are leveling it out, if that makes sense?

There is also a small incline going into the garage right? Not sure if that makes a difference

    Went and got some measurements:
Level floor to top of stock antenna is 82"
7 foot garage door opening from floor to the seal is 81"

    I hear ya...that 3" level would probably equal more like + 1.5 - 2"( educated guess )
So that's even more clearance , just make sure the finished opening is a true 7' opening.
If the Rough opening is 7'(84"), the finished opening will be smaller...like 82"- that's cutting it close.

The stock antenna is actually a good clearance checker for other garages, has saved me. And gets better reception than my Antenna Source stubby, not sure I’m putting the short one back on yet after camping season.

I can barely get in with 34.3” Grapplers on 2.5” lift, standard 7’ garage. I’d go 8’.

I went with the 8' door when I built my house with the intent of putting a lift on mine. Still no dice on the lift but still glad I went with it.

On another note, make sure your garage is 20' deep on inside dimensions. Because if not, your truck won't fit.

I was also going to say, if its not too late, I'd make that garage 24-25' deep. 20' deep=240", stock our truck are what, 229" long. Gives you about 5.5" on either side, not really enough room to walk around it. Those few extra feet can give you enough room to put some shelves up on the back wall and still walk around it.

8' and longer than 20' if you want to be able to go around...I have to open my garage door to go around my truck...

I always put 7’6” garage doors in new homes as the base size. Fits most home plans with minimal or no modifications, and saves a little money as it is still 4 panels like a 7’ door.

I went with the 8 foot as well. The interior length of the garage is 20.4' so I should be good. I'd rather not make it larger as I have a set budget and I want to get some items on my wife's wishlist too, not use it up on my Sunny

you garage will never be big enough, But the 8' door is a must. Then whatever it takes to get it deeper than 20'4". Leave it unfinished to move funds around. I have a deep 2 car with 7'6" door and it is tight. I can only pull the Tundy in for extreme bad weather. with everything that needs to go in the garage, space gets used up fast.
