Installed the S&B cold air intake. Curious to see if it makes any difference for my mpg.

This is so worth it and you really can do it for $5 if you have some wire and loom laying around the garage. I'm doing my buddies truck next week.

do you think its going to help or hurt? what was wrong with the OEM cold air intake? by my torq app and scangauge2, air temp with the OEM intake are only 1-2° warmer that outside air.

any reason to use the originally listed actuator vs the one you showed that was about $10 cheaper? Also, how loud it is? saw a thread on the real pop & lock that mentioned it being loud..

it will boost your mpg for the first few days then it will come back down to normal mpg that's what happened when I installed my S&B intake the first couple days it was up to like 17mpg then it went back to normal once the compute catches on

I’ve read how other tundra owners have had 1.5-2 mpg increase. I don’t think the difference is going to be that big of a different though. So I’m willing to try it and see if there is any increase for mpg and performance. So I’m wanting to see if it’s worth it from my own experience.

I can't see any reason to use the more expensive actuator. This one works well, it is very smooth and quiet. It comes with no wiring but they don't give you enough anyway with the other actuator. It's really not very loud at all, no louder than the power locks on the doors. You can only hear it if you're standing back near it.

That was another reason I wanted the S@B. I already have the JBA long tube headers and my full replacement exhaust will be next. So I figured better air flow would help and sound better.

@Jim LE 1301 did u have to cut off the bottom of the boot? Reason I ask, I took off the piece around shifter to leave with my guy to hydrodip and match other two. But when I put the boot in without the surround and with the shifter on it was squeezing the hell out the boot. I'm guessing with the stock trd pro shifter it sits lower on the chrome shifter shaft than the 1 u used? When u look at the pro shifter handle there's hardly any room between the base and the shifter column. Probably less than an inch? I'm guessing that I'm not going to be able to use the boot with the stock pro shifter unless u have magical words of wisdom, or I cut the shit out the bottom of the boot and by some miracle it looks good?

Picked up a can of rustoleum peel coat today at walmart while back to school supply shopping. Its gloss and actually went on pretty nice.
I did my exhaust tip to see how I like it black. Also did my steering wheel badge. Came out great IMO. Trying to decide if I should tackle removing the peel coat from the small areas inside the badge or just leave it. For now I'll leave it cuz I dont wanna mess it up. It will probably require a small scalpel from work anyway to get it done.

I left that with them to do the brushed silver piece in same pattern. Once all 3 are done it's going to look phenomenal. From the driver's seat looking down it really looks great and I'm thrilled with how it all came out. Cant wait to get 3rd piece back.

I didn't have to cut my boot. I originally done it with the tundra TRD PRO shift knob, like you said, it did scrunch the boot up, didn't look good, my opinion. That's why I got a Tacoma TRD PRO shift knob.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
    Nice choice brotha!!
    You'll like the S&B!

If you didn't do it already as part of the install; Get some MAF cleaner and spray it down. Just unplug it (leave it connected to the intake tube) and take off the intake tube. Spray in the direction of the airflow.
Just FYI...I clean the filter and MAF at every oil change. Just don't over oil the filter. I've averaged as high as 14.5 - 15.2 mgps after oil change and cleaning the MAF...all on a 3" lift and 35's.

For a little extra noise, take the lid off, turn off the nannies and wait for 2nd gear.
    Thank me later...:hattip:
P.S. I'm not responsible for any panties that may get thrown at your truck!
