'18 Platinum - Busted Antenna - Please Help :-)

I own a 2018 Tundra Platinum (white). I went thru an automatic carwash today and proceeded to rip off the antenna...dammit haha. It snapped it off pretty clean but not flush, it's recessed down in there. Problem is I can't seem to get an EZ-out to work on that (bronze/brass) material which would allow me to un-thread the piece that's still in there and simply replace :-(. SO, my thought/question is this - can I somehow remove the wheel well lining and access the antenna that way? If so, can I then just un-plug a connection from there and replace a section of an entire assembly?

Lastly, YES my next mod is short stub antenna haha.

 

I cant help with your issue. I will advise though maybe posting a photo and someone with more knowledge can help further. Also, even with the 6.75" stubby antenna, i would still advise to remove before entering automatic car washes.

Well noted on removing even the stubby antenna before washing...probably not a bad idea.

Dunno if they'd fit but, have you tried needle nosed vice grips?

 

If you are good with air tools or a dremel try a small burr bit and remove some material to thing it down and then use a small pick and fold the edges in and away from the threads.

Another option is to find a left hand twist drill bit the fits in there and slowly drive in reverse like an ez out.

How 'bout a Dremel, thin metal cut-off wheel. Cut slots across from each other. Remove with a screwdriver.

 

I was in the car audio business years ago, changing an antenna is fairly simple. Just turn your wheel in and remove the fender liner. There should be a male/female connection inside the the wheel well area or its in the kick panel. Id remove it before trying to back out the broken piece, would suck to slip and gouge your fender.

 

I have been told the plug is inside by the oh shi*t handle but maybe @Roman can help confirm I have the same problem and have not tackled it either.

 

I had the same thing happen to my stubby a few weeks ago. I’ve been trying to figure out how to fix it.

The antenna holder is the green portion in the image. You would have to unbolt it and the wire to replace it.

 

I have a Tacoma, and I replaced the factory antenna with a stubby one after a drunk person bent the factory one in the parking lot at work (I barback at a night club). I always removed BOTH antennas before going through the car wash!

 

Wow...sounds like I've created quite the monster here haha. I was hoping someone would chime in saying simply unplug broken one behind fender well, buy a new one for $19.99, and plug-in haha.

What's the trick to un-bolting/un-doing those plastic fasteners that hold on the wheel well liner?
