About a week ago I loaded up my freezer, stove, bikes etc and headed to Ocoee River, TN for camping/Rafting with a buddy of mine. I left at 9 AM but due to work and shitty day as usual, didn't leave Chicago till 3 PM. As I was passing by Chicago South side about 10 minutes to Indiana border, my Inverter underneath the driver side seat set off the alarm which made me stopped at the shoulder. I don't like pulling up on the shoulder as its always dangerous and loud but I didn't have a choice here. I was right after the freeway exit ramp so I can see the cars slowing down while taking the exit.

My buddy opened the hood to check the cables while I rolled down driver side window and was standing right there by the driver side side view mirror looking at the battery gauge in the dash while talking to him. I heard the loud popping noise and I look back about 50 feet away there were two cars shooting at each other while approaching me. Two guys sitting on the passenger side door sill almost half out of the car (Beige Chevy Suburban and White Chrysler 300c) shooting each other. Suburban was taking the exit while they were still shooting at each other. There was a gap where most of the traffic behind them slowed down and it was just two of them and us caught in the middle. I immediately ducked down as the cars were about 30 feet from me. Heard popping noises and a bullet hitting my truck. My buddy who was thinking Tundra is making these popping noise only saw one car passing him while the other disappear after taking the exit. He saw me checking out my Tundra said, don't worry about the truck you just got saved.

Anyways, I immediately left and didn't stop till I reach well into Indiana. I still couldn't find any bullet holes but I was sure I heard something hitting my truck. We went enjoyed and came back from our trip and I parked the truck in the garage as it was full of bugs and mud.

Yesterday, When I was washing I noticed something on the A pillar. Figured out immediately it was a Bullet that touched right by the driver side window. I was lucky to survive otherwise I would have been in another world watching tundras.com. Driver side window was down so it didn't shattered all over but the bullet marks are where exactly where my head was.

Unfortunately, my GoPro was off and charging but my front and rear dash cam should have the footage. I gotta dig into it and see if I can find something. These shootings are so common In Chicago where Police could care less unless somebody died.

Lesson learned, never ever stop at the shoulder unless you have to.....

South and west side of City of Chicago is dangerous especially the west side. These gangs fight w each other when one enters another's territory. Its a jungle feels like Al Capone is still alive.

Kind of an eye opener isn’t it?

This shouldn’t be horrible to fix cost wise.

My black Dodge 2500 was hit by a .40 cal when my drivers door was open. It hit right on the frame by the hinges (inside).

Funny thing is when I finally had it fixed, I was picking my truck up, just had shoulder surgery a week earlier, and some thug was beating on my window trying to get inside. I guess the .45 ACP barrel changed his mind or something. He stopped.

I loaded up the truck night before leaving till about 1am. I was so looking forward to this trip. I suppose to leave at 6am ended up going to work at 5am came back and finally left at 9am. Drove 1 mile and gotta call turned around and went to work again. Finally managed to hop on the highway at 3pm full of Chicago Traffic w construction.

After the incident, i was literally checking my head and legs and back to see if i got hit. I said f it, and just hopped on the truck literally abused my supercharger and didn't stop for about an hour. I will check w the insurance now that i found the bullet hole. $500 deductible, don't know if it will help.

Oh, It is an eye opener. I have never seen it so close. Changed my perspective in life. It isn't too much to fix dollar wise. I don't own a gun neither in favor nor against it. Since yesterday, I have been convincing myself to get one. :boink:
