Very happy with the skid. Much more protection underneath. We did a road trip to Nashville last weekend and on Route 79 through WV (around 10PM pitch dark) there was debris on the road. Fortunately, no damage. I think it was a tire tread and all I could think of was it hitting my Fumoto valve and ripping it off. That's not an issue now....

You could use simple nut and lock washer. They shipped nylocks (didn't know the correct term...) and I fortunately had the correct size of nylock in my supplies. I sent RCI an email and mentioned they may want to check/verify the correct bolt/nut sizes.

As I was posting this RCI emailed me back apologizing and said they will verify correct sizes.

I ordered the skid on July 8th and received (and installed) the skid this afternoon Aug 10th. I sent an email about a week ago asking for an ETA. They responded saying they were moving manufacturing and trying to keep up with orders at the same time. I'm thinking future orders should be quicker.

There is zero comparison between them. Very happy with the quality. Took longer than I anticipated...but it's a quality piece of equipment and it's finally installed on the truck.

I do all my own maintenance. Not about the money, just prefer to do it my way. Plus it gives me a chance to check everything else over while I’m under there.

Sorry. Wasn’t sure of the technical jargon.

You are correct. I needed a 9/16 socket for the nut that I had in my supplies that fit the 4” bolt from RCI. The nut they sent in the kit my 5/8 socket fit. That nut was too big for the 4” bolt they sent me.

Just curious. Why is that not an issue with the Fumoto now? Does this skid cover the drain bolt??

Wife is questioning me why I'm on the garage floor at 9:30 at night after it rained. I told her "you wouldn't understand".

yes. The RCI covers the oil drain plug. My Fumoto plug is no longer exposed like it was with just the OEM skid plate. The RCI goes all the way back to the cross member.

You can see the RCI skid covers the valve. My pic was on an angle due to the fact I didn't want to get my entire shirt soaked in the garage. Looking directly underneath the skid plate covers the valve.

I understand. However, doing my own oil changes with amsoil and filter is actually more expensive than what the dealer would charge me (not including my time which would be way more). I've purchased enough vehicles from my dealer that I've already created a relationship. To the point he asks me questions about Tacomas and 4Runners (had about 10 of those combos) when he gets an off the wall question. If you would do your own changes, just document the changes with pictures/invoices and it would be very difficult to refute the work. With my relationship with my dealer it wouldn't even be brought up. As I mentioned before in an earlier post, I enjoy doing the work and I know it's done right. It shouldn't be an issue if one wants to do their own maintenance and be worried about coverage. Good luck with the truck. Inferno is awesome...

Nope, first vehicle I haven't done it on. My wife is the boss lady at her family's dealership. So I know I'm getting taken care of

I understand. I have the extended to 100,000 and still won’t let those quick lube clowns touch my truck. It’s not about saving a few bucks for me. It’s about not having some kid torque my oil housing down to 400 ft lbs.
I do completely understand your position though and respect it.

Thanks man! You didn’t have to climb under there but I appreciate it.
Do you have to drop the skid to change the oil then? If so then it defeats the purpose of why I want to buy one.

The skid will stay on. I have access on the side to get my Fumoto F-103S nipple SH-10 on the drain valve. This would also work if you go for the Fumoto valve with the longer nipple and just attach a 3/8" tube. I wouldn't suggest using the Fumoto drain with no nipple F-103. I can see you getting oil on the skid plate. The filter will be accessed via the door they have on the skid right underneath the filter housing. The key to making a clean filter change is using the Lexus tool to drain the filter housing, or the Jowett performance filter housing with the quick drain valve.

Long story short...you won't have to remove the skid to do an oil change and filter change. Leveraging the right Fumoto valve it should be a fairly quick and clean change.
