Hi Tundra Guys

Just signed up here. I actually just got a 2016 Tacoma a couple months ago. Wanted a Tundra but my garage just isn't quite tall enough to allow me to get in and out of it.

Anyway my dad passed away a couple years ago and has a 2005 SR5 Tundra which now belongs to my mom. She will not drive it because it is way to big for her and at 75 years of age she just can't judge distance well enough and is afraid she will smash it up.

It is a 2005 SR5 Salsa Red Pearl color? with the 4.7, 4x4, has a new ARE cap/topper, power sunroof, power rear window, and just less that 17,000 miles. We kind of want to sell it since my brother doesn't want it. I would like to have it but as I said garage just isn't big enough. Is a good candidate modding. My question is what are your thoughts on value of it for private sale. Have been telling people $19,500. Some pics below.

My mom currently has a 2009 Camry with 80,000 and wants to get into maybe a Rav4 or something with a bit more room as she does wood crafts etc and needs some rear space to haul things and she has been thinking of just trading her car and the Tundra in for something. I have told her that she would maybe get 5,000 for her car and maybe 13 to 14,000 for the tundra trading both in. She really isn't to concerned about taking the loss but at the same time isn't in any big hurry to trade or sell either.

Her car though is out of warranty and cannot get anymore extended warranty on it without going aftermarket and we all know how good those are. So just curious as to what your opinions are on a value. Thanks.

I agree on not selling it to, is kind of up to my mom but as I said I don't think is
really cares if it stays or goes. I visit her usually 3-4 times a month and take her out for a drive
in it so it doesn't just sit there. It is also garaged so stays out of the elements while not being driven.
I do need to get it to the dealer though for the frame inspection to get that taken care of.

I really do love the new Tundras though, damn garage, lol. It actually is on blocks so I suppose
I could raise it a block or 2 and be golden.

Keep it. That low of miles and still in good shape, hell if I'd of found that when I was looking I'd of bought it.

Sorry for your loss. I have to say, I am with them, if you can find any way to keep it in the family I think it will be worth it down the road. I realize the sale price can help with many things in life, obviously you guys will make the best decision. That truck is a beauty though. A few weeks ago I was on a kick looking at used first gen Tundras and one that clean is a diamond in the rough.

that it won't go anywhere anyway. I have driven it a lot and it does drive very
good. My dad had a small turd Dodge Dakota 2x4. He would use it to pull a decent sized trailer
to haul their wood crafts to shows and hated that truck when it came too hills.

I came across the Tundra at the dealership and told him about it and within a week he owned it.
Whenever he drove it towing his trailer he told me he didn't even know the trailer was there, lol.

 

Just another opinion. If you have room, keep it. There is no way you can replace that truck for anything less than 30K today. A 16K mile used full size pick up, cream puff is going to cost you.
If you don't have room, check every source possible for high retail and then add 5K. You won't have it long.
