I've just rolled over 4500 miles, and like my 16 Tacoma, my 18 Tundra gives me an alert at startup that maintenance is required, and the little orange triangle lights up.

Then after like 20 seconds, the triangle is no longer lit. I was under the impression it was supposed to stay on until the maintenance was performed. This is obviously not a big deal at all, but I'm wondering if anyone else's 2018 does this? Or are their gremlins in my computer system? I have a feeling it's the latter, my Tacoma occasionally acted weird with this as well and it's the same software.

I'll mention it before the 5000 mile service but I doubt the dealer will be of much help. This is a first world problem, for sure, in every other way my Tundra is beyond awesome.

Every Tundra does this. It first comes on as an initial reminder that maintenance is getting closer. The more miles you drive the more often it will pop up until it just stays on all the time. I just reset mine myself because Toyota often forgets to when I get oil changes.

It’s just telling you that it’s coming up. It’ll stay lit until you clear it once it’s due.

Ok, just to clarify, I'm talking about the orange triangle, not the message that pops up that says "Maintenance required soon" that covers up the display. That one obviously goes away.

Alright, I have figured out what's going on. If you start the truck up, the message "Maintenance Require Soon" appears. If you do nothing, after about 20 seconds, it goes away, the triangle then does not light up, and everything goes back to normal.

If you press the acknowledge arrow button, it goes away, and the triangle lights up. After maybe 20 seconds, the triangle stops being lit and everything goes back to normal.

On my 16 Taco with the same software, the triangle stayed on all the time after 4500 miles, then gave an additional message after the 5000 mile mark. That it was different on my Tundra threw me off. I'm guessing Toyota got feedback from people saying "This is annoying having the triangle stay lit prior to the service interval" and opted to make it a temporary notification. At any rate, it's all good, and my Tundra kicks ass.

This is happening to my tundra. And it’s all a scam. I had old cars my whole life and used 10w40 oil and the cheap stuff and never had a problem with the engines. Now they have $15 dollar quarts and it’s synthetic and you have to change it every 5 thousand miles? That’s a scam to ge5 you to buy and servic3 the vehicles. I us3 to pay $.99 cents a quart back in 5he day and never had an engine problem. But today. That’s another scam

    None....
Toyota says you can change it every 10k, but to check all your fluids and rotate tires every 5k. Light is for both. Notice it doesn't say change oil
