LineX Bed Rails

After removing my camper shell I found a little bit of rust and lots of scratched paint. To avoid more paint and body issues down the road I decided to LineX the bed rails and tailgate. The next camper shell won't cause any problems

So the camper shell requires you to remove the plastic caps for installation? I siliconed my bed caps on because didn’t like the way they shifted causing paint rub.

 

The camper overlapped the factory bed caps and rubbed the paint. Next camper doesn't rely on the factory bed caps and won't get near the paint

 

OhIC! I looked closer at the picture I can see where your cap was rubbing. definitely wouldn’t want that. I had an ARE shell on an old truck that sat perfectly. That is until I had to have some body work done and they over tightened it and bent the bed cap where the clamps go. It also sucked in the shell down so that the edges were rubbing the paint. Thanks jerks. I don’t know why I didn’t take it back. I was young .

 

That is frustrating. Hopefully I never have to worry about the paint again

 

The bed on my '07 was used & abused by the previous owners, so I had the bed rails and some of the outer fenders coated with Line-X. This improved the looks, and extended the service life of the bed.

 

Your truck looks great! I’m currently going through the same issue. How did you go about filling all the holes? And have you had any issues after?

 

Love the line x on the bed rails! Is there any concern with the cap needing the height of the plastic bed rail caps to fit properly?

The rail covers were not supposed to be sprayed... I'm convinced a trainee sprayed my truck. The store knocked some $$ off the total, and I drove off. No worries, it's all under cover today.

 

Sorry for being nearly two years late to this, but I want to do this to mine as well. What was used to fill the holes from the bed rail caps?

 

Foil Tape by Reflectix.

Two layers over each hole. Under certain lighting, you could see the holes but it was mostly hidden

 

Thanks for the response. since you have had the bed rails done, has the line x held up? Any issues? Also, I am wanting to install a roll up tonneau cover on mine after the bed rails are lined. Should it install with no issues or will the change to the bed rails cause it to not install properly? I am thinking it should be fine as long as both bed rails remain even and level.
