Super swampers cracking

I bought these tires last September and I’m starting to notice a lot of cracks in the sidewalls anyone else have problems like this with newer tires? I’m not very happy with the quality of these so far, I have bigo brand mud tires on my fathers 4runner and they are holding up way better

 

Check the date code and see when they were made...I bet they are older than you think...

 

There made in the 15th week of 2017. The date code is the last four digits of the stamping on the sidewall in the first pic.

 

Is it just me or does the serial number look like it was added on? Looks like an old one was scratched off and that on placed on top...

 

Do you air up and down often?

 

Does look kind of effed up doesn’t it? Either way I think I’d be down at the tire shop telling them to give me a new set.

 

I run 40psi constantly. Yeah it does look kind of odd I ordered them from 4wheel parts so I don’t think they have been altered. I sent them an email on the problem so we’ll see what they have to say.

 

Not good. All four like that? I'd be going back to the tire dealer.

 

3 out of 4 are like that, I think it’s a bad batch because the 3 that are bad all have the same date code

 

Yea I would be looking for them to give me a new set. We run a set of the TSL's on an old chevy and ours never cracked that quickly. That truck doesn't get driven much unfortunately and currently needs work done. I looked at it recently though and when it gets fixed up, tires will need to be replaced as well because all 4 have big dry rot cracks in them, but they are about 12 years old.

 

Well 4wheel parts still hasn’t responded so I called interco. They wanted me to dismount and pay to send them in so they could inspect them for a prorated warranty then give me credit. I told them I wouldn’t send them any tires unless I knew before hand what the deal was and that there all 17-19/32nds when new there 21/32nds tread. Later I received a email saying they would only pay 68% of replacement cost and I would have to pay shipping on the new set. Long story short it’s not worth it to warranty them, I guess I’m going to try to sell them for offroad use and buy another brand.

There 13/33-16 tsl bias ply the sidewalls say 45psi max ( don’t give me the tire pressure vs truck weight speech I already know about that) I live in Missouri and I’m in lake mud often that’s why I chose them. I’m considering either maxxis or Yokohama for my next set.

Sorry to hear you are not having any luck getting them replaced. I damn sure wouldn't be paying shipping on sending those back in, those damn things are heavy! We run the original TSL bias, in a 36x12.50-15 and have had good luck with them, but they are definitely ones you have to watch out with. After sitting for a while, those things flat spot horribly, and feels like driving a dang wagon until they get good and warmed up to even back out.

 

What do you clean the tires with?

 

Of course soap and water then meguiars detailer tire dressing.

 

I am going to need you to clarify this, since I am an MTR nut swinger. I have had 0 issues in this midwest muck in my jeep. Maybe I am not wheeling hard enough? We talking deep mud or like the occasional crap you have to go through to get to the next obstacle?
