This was back in winter of 2009, it snowed a good 3-9" depending on where you were in middle Tennessee. I remember the day after it snowed, roads were shit, but my old Cadillac Brougham got me home the night before no problem, with 6" of shit on the interstates, not plowed.

I think it was a couple of days after the first snow dropped, I called up my buddy Bill who was kind of getting stir crazy, he lived about 5 miles down the road from me near an almost abandoned mall(Hickory Hollow Mall in Nashville). The local bar was open, I told him no worries, my car will make it, bring along your boyfriend and roommate. I picked up another friend of ours, 5 of us were in the Cadillac. Of course I made a detour to the very icy/unplowed Hickory Hollow Mall parking lot.

That old Cadillac knew how to boogey on that sheet of ice. That old car was kind of set up to drift, stock size new white walls gave good grip, it had the trailer tow package from the factory which gave it a pretty stiff suspension(ie not a lot of body roll), I swapped in a posi-track 3.55 rear so it would pull my old bass boat up the ramp without that one wheel peel nonsense.

Anyways, I managed to scare the absolute shit out of my buddies in that car. Get going 30mph cutting across the parking lot, tap the brakes to shift the weight to the front of the car, keep the car in 2nd gear, while all the weight is on the front of the car you turn sharp and hit the gas, back end comes around real quick, if you did it right it would do a whole 360, keep doing donuts.

Or my other favorite trick was to get going around 25-30mph, with your foot on the gas, weight transfered to the front of the car you just cut it right or left, rear end breaks loose, if you goose the gas right and countersteer, you are driving sideways in a huge 4 wheel skid for several hundred feet lol.

Seriously that 10-15 minutes of drifting around that ice covered parking lot, never got above 40mph, drifting that huge 20 foot land yatch, scaring all my buddies sensesless, that was just stupid fun.

You are going to laugh, but that was perhaps the most predicable handling car I ever had. Yeah the steering was a bit vauge on center like all old cars, but it didn't have that slop, it didn't feel worn out. The previous owner said he replaced the shocks and rear air springs with normal springs, I swear he swapped them them with 9C1 Caprice spec parts or something. Car didn't ride like a Cadillac, it didn't float at all, it was level in the corners. Still you could push that car on a public road and feel perfectly safe doing so, it would always plow if you pushed it too hard.

non sequitur but I enjoyed reading it! :)

And I'm guessing the responses you get hereafter about the most fun we've had in a car are about to go even further afield.

Hahaha, I can honestly say I've had better sex outside a car than in a car, although the front bench seat in that Cadillac did make things a lot easier. I had to refuse road head after I almost drove off the road in that car.

I am glad there were no cell phone cameras, body & dash cams during my youth.

One of my favorite automobile memories is driving into turn 3 at Indy going about 130 mph with the top down, smooth as silk. I think the year was 1983.
