Wait until a damn rock or anything touches the sensor. You’ll have a Christmas lit dash, no 4WD, and out over $100 + shipping time until you get the part.
I ordered them as soon as mine broke and haven’t looked back. Easy, and cheap insurance.

He replied back quickly in an email. It was an additional shipping fee after the purchase was completed. Strange set up for payment but I finished the purchase and will hopefully get them soon.

Considering the type of items they sell and the size of some of this stuff I don't think it's strange. Especially when shipping could be in the hundreds they're just trying to make sure they are charging the right amount

Our new system that we have moved to shows the order "cancelled" anytime we edit the order (I.E. we add shipping costs, change qty or size, etc). It doesn't actually cancel the order. Just add an "A" to end of your original order number. (If your order number was 123456, it would now be 123456A). We are working on getting this changed.

You guys are spot on on the shipping. We want you guys to have the lowest shipping costs possible rather than a higher flat rate charge.

Yeah, same deal when I ordered. Thanks @ARamirez73 for posting that screen shot; it kind of explains how they do the shipping separately and after the 1st payment. I was confused and a bit irritated about needing to call (because I was too busy that week to fit it in). I would be so much easier (for us, not them) if there was some type of email or something that says what the shipping had been calculated to be. Instead I suddenly had a second PayPal request for $8 or something with no prior notice or explanation-- and this is not spelled out on the website. Seems like it'd be easy to write it up on the order page, what to expect, because I've never encountered another company that does it this way (no contact to get customer approval for the final shipping cost).

Anyway, after a couple days it suddenly occurred to me it might be the shipping, so I just paid it because I was too busy to call and didn't want to hold up the order. I recall thinking $8 seemed pretty steep (on the installation thread, the parts look tiny), but the weight of the box, when I got it, set me straight.

I get it but it's still odd. I have ordered hundreds of items over the years of all weights and sizes and this is the only company to do this.

This ^^^ is what I meant: a charge was requested by PayPal but there was nothing labeling it "shipping" and no communication from SDHQ between the time I placed my order through the site and the 2nd request for PayPal, i.e. no (typical) option to select not to complete a purchase because the buyer perceives the shipping quote is too high. I'm not arguing with you about your business practices, but chiming in to say I can see why the [OP] was confused... especially when he received communication from you that said 'cancelled'.

Anyway, like pretty much everyone that chimed in on this thread before you responded (you even picked up an order!), I'm a big fan of SDHQ! I have since bought more from y'all and, now that I understand the shipping dance, I took this opportunity to give you feedback to underscore what the [OP] said: you might add a little more detail to your order page, explaining that charges will occur in 2 parts, but that there will be no communication from SDHQ with a shipping quote before a 2nd PayPal request (or credit card charge) is received by the customer, which won't have any description.

On this thread you've explained the 'cancelled, add a A to your order' thing and that's great because I'd be freaked out too if I received a 'cancellation' notice followed by a request for more money. It'd be less stressful if a purchaser knew this 'cancelled, add an A to your order' thing. Now, thanks to this thread, it may be #KNOWN.

Anyway, these threads linger. I hope that by posting-- assuming you don't change the info on your website-- future customers, in a situation the OP described, will know, 'it's fine, just how they do things at SDHQ' and do like Kris does, just call for more info.

I see the title of this thread has been changed so now a negative has turned positive. SDHQ's Great Quality Products for Tundras (that forum members stand by!) are what it ended up being about.

    Have a great afternoon!

Something we will definitely look into. All these little qwerks are those things that we don't see during our testing phase. I included a picture below of what the template is when we send the emails for both the order number change and the shipping. It autofills the correct order number, etc. So I am not sure why people are not understanding the order number change if they are reading it. I am looking more into the paypal side of thinks. But please, if you guys have any questions, PM me. You guys are also more than welcome to place orders with me through PM's as well.

    Bright pink truck nuts.

Your new system smells like the one I'm stuck with at work. Anytime someone sneezes near the order an urgent looking email gets sent out to the client, saying changes have been made, without actually specifying the changes

TBH, I'm not sure why shipping isn't calculated at checkout. There are plenty of shopping cart calculators available. I just went thru this as well and while it's straightforward, it is an annoying extra few steps.

Our A-Pillars for example average $15-20 for shipping. Via these online shipping calculators, it was averaging $22-30. Thus creating loss of sales due to the common response of "shipping is almost half the cost of the product". Also when people are purchasing multiple items, those shopping cart calculators don't take into consideration that you can't put everything in one box and shipping costs increase for multiple packages. People aren't exactly happy when we contact them to tell them shipping costs are going to be more than what the website told them.

Sorry I have been so busy. Update- I paid the shipping and received the package a couple days later. I am overall happy with the company and glad they work fast. The confusion got me but now I'm aware. Hopefully I get time tomorrow to install.

I got my wheels in yesterday from sdhq. Was able to contact whoever runs the edge profile here and he got me my tracking information within I thin 1-2hrs. Pretty pumped they’re alright in my book. Wheels should be on at the end of the month

Called them up and the sales guy said they usually package them in with one of the wheels. So I opened them all up and of course it was in the last box I opened lol.
