    Oh, I see what you mean, those cool tents, not likely. I don't think weight is designed to rest on the bike rack's tubular metal because the bike actually sits in the groove in-between the tubes.

    I guess you're looking for some type of solution because the CVT doesn't sit right directly on top of the Diamondback?

    No, me either, I've seen a lot of bike racks drilled into the DB but came across a guy who used Thule clamps on the anchor cleats so I copied.

    I'm sure if you did the same with no bike racks, then made a floor out of spaced out 2x10's with a lip on the front and back overhanging the Thule load bars to prevent it from moving, and also some wood running parallel to the bars underneath the 2x10's (like a wood pallet), you'd have a CVT floor you can keep at the bottom of your truck bed while travelling that shouldn't take up too much height. Pull it out when setting up your tent up there. I'd use cedar, smells great and repels bugs.

    I wonder why u can't just put a CVT and an air mattress on top of the db and not have to elevate?

    ... or for something more sturdy, easily remove the front and back DB panels and clamp these Thule truck racks which should clear the DB centre panel that you're leaving on (except you'd be travelling without a full DB cover)

    Maybe the DB locks and hinges damage the bottom of the tent flooring? Not sure how much it'll slide around. I'd think you could, just lay some memory foam between the DB and tent floor, and skip the racks unless you needed them to transport mountain bikes or other gear.

    Looks really cool, like being in a treehouse, my kids would love it, on short more rugged trips where we don't bring the trailer, more camping, less glamping. Gonna look into it more.

    I had the truck detailed. I do most of my detailing but took it to the detail shop as I wanted the wheels ceramic coated as well.

    Drove home to Wisconsin last weekend. Averaged 60mph on the 6hr drive back to Indiana and got 18.8mpg. Not too shabby considering most of the time driving was on the interstate doing 80.

    Yea. I get that. I've just got student loans at 6-8% that i'm chipping away at first... with a few mods from time to time to keep life exciting :D
    Wasn't saying it was a bad choice, just not the right choice for me - we've all got different priorities!

    The feeling of having a paid for vehicle is always nice. Just paid off my wife's. It's nice to have the extra $500/mo to throw at the loans!

    Hey Sean were u the one who put those ultra thin 7 inch LEDs just under the rear bumper by rear plate? I got them as a temp fix til I mount some bd flush cubes in bumper and wondering how it was mounted.

    From description sounds like mine are different since it has 2 brackets one on each end.

    My wiring is done I just got to figure a spot to mount these to see if I like them. I'm guessing they might not be enough for what I'm looking for so just need a clean temp spot with no permanent damage.
