37’s?

So...I just put a Expedition One front bumper on my 14’ Platinum Crew Max. It opened up the front end quite a bit. I have “0” offset Fuel Hostage II’s (2 piece). I also have the BDS 4.5” with Fox coilovers on the front. Can I go up to a 37” without any cutting on the cab mounts? I think the problem that everyone was having was with the front bumper but maybe I am wrong. Here is a picture of the set up.

 

honestly CMC is no big deal. I say cut it for the piece of mind and go to 37's

 

7" BDS with open front bumper, 37's rubbed on my truck. Wheels have -24 offset.

 

100% will need a CMC.

Oh hell yeah! But you probably will want to re-gear. And then might as well add LSD while you're at it.

 

I don’t mind the re-gear and a LSD but one guy talked me out of that and said that I needed to go lockers!?!?!?

 

Unless you're doing some serious offroading and rock crawling, I'd go with the LSD.

 

The other guy told me that I could fry the LSD in the rain turning a corner if I spun too much. Is that true? I’m good with whatever. I just don’t know a ton about all this.

 

I've never heard of that and would say very unlikely. The LSD will help in most situations. A locker will only be used in extreme cases offroad. You may never even use the locker unless you're really doing some extreme wheeling.

 

Can you continue to use synthetic oil or do you have to go to a more conventional oil and do you have to change your differential oil more often? Going to the LSD that is.

 

Not sure about the oils. Do you get snow where you live? And I know you're building up your truck for more overlanding style trips. Do you plan to do run more serious terrain?

 

I would like to think I’m building it up for some serious off roading but I just can’t bring myself to beating my truck. I know...I’m a sissy!!!! And I just sold my tent and rack but I’m going to replace it with the James Bourad and Voodoo rack. I don’t get snow here in St. George very often but I have my other store in Vernal and we get snow there. Maybe I’ll wait and do 2019 Tundra. I don’t know what to do. Crap I have too much money into this truck and it has 70k miles on it.

 

LOL. I have 15k miles and my truck looks like it's 15 years old. Yeah, I think the LSD is probably a better choice for you. My buddy who's pretty a hardcore wheeler only needs his locker like twice a year.

 

They make limited slip gear oil or just buy the additive. I use it in another vehicle and it's full time locked, no harm done. Gear oil change should be at normal intervals but this always depends what kind of beating your diffs take. BTW, I love my ARB locker even though I don't use it often. Hauling ass on soft roads and trails in locked 2wd is so much more fun and easier than 4wd.
