    Hi all

Are there folks transporting their motorbikes with the Tundra? I am interested to learn about how you load/unload them and how you fix them.

Since the bed is at some height from the ground and taking into consideration that the bike has its own weight and is not capable to overcome a certain angle (ramp to bed), it is not as easy as it might look at first glance.

    Thank you, Beni

For my street bike and quad...my driveway has a hill so I find the spot that makes my tailgate lowest to the ground and use a ramp from my quad trailer. Unloading the street bike I try and find a similar situation or as close as possible. My quad I just grab the rear pull bar get the front tires to the tailgate and then yank it out... to be fair I have a trx450 so the suspension can handle it. I am also lifted 6” with 35’s so it’s a lot higher then stock.

Just make sure what ever you do you make sure your ramp is secure... don’t want to go dropping whatever your trying to load.

Here's a couple of bikes in the bed of my Tundra. I use a Trackside heavy duty folding ramp (18" wide, 8' long, 1500 lbs capacity) to load/unload, typically using a dirt bike stand as a step. For securing the bikes I have a CCR Sport Bed Buddy installed against the front wall of the bed and six Bullring retractable stake pocket anchors. When loading/unloading I strongly recommend running a tie down/strap between the ramp and your trailer hitch so prevent the ramp from slipping. If you have any questions or want links just let me know!

This is what I used to use to tie down my Cbr600rr and cbr1000rr https://www.motosport.com/canyon-dancer-bar-harness I guess they have a newer version but that thing was awesome.

I've heard good things about the Canyon Dancer harness from guys that have clip-ons. That said I just use the tie-down loops Amazon sells.

Canyon dancers have crashed two of my bikes in the back of a truck.....never again.

For loading a street bike get a folding arched ramp so you dont drag pipes or belly pan on the tailgate. Use a bike stand as a step as you load.

I use a US Rack system to lock the front wheel. Makes loading multiple bikes when I'm alone a snap. 20180723_174608.jpg

Not that I’m doubting you....but how did the canyon dancer crash 2 of your bikes? I currently don’t use one of those but you never know may end up with another sport bike and wouldn’t have thought twice about buying one. I do like those wheel holders but have never used one.

Not sure exactly how it happened. But somehow they got loose and then BAM! 1st time I figured it was something I did....2nd time nope. One time was Ducati race bike, 2nd was RC51 race bike.....i was PISSED

I haul a BUNCH! And I am OCD when it comes to this stuff. Soft ties and a turn buckle strap with spring hooks has never failed me in over 30 years. Or straps with a built in soft strap.

I bought a 300 after watching that video and Jarvis wheelie everywhere. My bike is defective apparently.

I know with the large amount of front fork travel on MX bikes you can't use the traditional tie downs or the hooks can and will pop off.

It happened to me, bent a radiator and I haven't went back. Do you think that could have happened to you?

Now I go with a complete enclosure at each end. These are the tie downs I use, hands down the best I have ever had. Soft hook on one side, carabiner on the other.

Fork brace for the dirt bike. I'm due for new straps, those carabiners are way more robust than the spring loaded things I currently have.

Edit: dammit they are only on one end!

Mine appear to be similar to those..
I got them for my quads but use them if I have to take the Duke somewhere.

Thanks for the inputs. I guess I am going with something to fix the front wheels to the bed. The US Rack stuff seems to be pretty solid and there should be similar stuff here on the old continent. Since I have a folding bedcover permanently installed I will have to check how to mount it. Will keep you updated.

In order to load/unload I will look around for good spots as well as a ramp.

I made a custom long ramp that folds in threes. When I’m alone I use a come along and just slowly winch them up the ramp so there is no drama lol.

My trucks getting recalls done however I can describe it. I run 2 ratchet straps in a cross configuration. I have bullrings on the top. Stretch out the come along and connect in middle where it intersects. This way it will have minimal travel left or right. Put the handle closest to the bike slowly ratchet it up while letting it lean about 15% on your body. For added security I ratchet strap the ramps to my trailer hitch so they don’t move

Tested yesterday if the bike would fit (in terms of lenght). It does, but need to leave the tailgate open and rear wheel will be just placed in the middle of the gate.

Do you think I will dsmage the tailgate by driving like this?

A hill definitely is a good idea when loading a sport bike. Dirt bikes are much easier. I also use the Pro Taper and Fly straps that have carabiners and soft ties built in.

Wish I had an 8’ bed though.
