Exhaust pipe size.

Here to beat the dead horse like always. So the question is what is the best size exhaust pipe to run for dual exhaust from long tube headers back? I want more low end and or mid torque. I know 2.5in has a faster flow rate but does it make/keep low end/mid torque better or does 3in make more low end/mid since the headers are more effective at scavenging? Also I know x pipes make more hp/torque up top and h pipes are more for down low. Does that hold true for our trucks. So sum it up for a N/A 5.7 from headers back would dual 2.5 make more low end compared to dual 3inch? Let the exhaust argument begin again... beating that horse.

Any benefits of running an x pipe over and h pipe? I know it’s hard to get proper placement since one bank runs longer then the other. But does one also add more lower end compared to the other?

 

X pipe makes a lot better low end torque than H.

We have started making = length mid pipes

 

Equal length mids must look interesting with how the exhaust is set to run on our trucks. Definitely interested in seeing some of those on a truck.

Everything i read online it states that a H pipe will produce more low end.
Why do you think it is different on our trucks?

 

Also, I am guessing before the X pipe/ H pipe, the mid pipes should be equal length for it to be beneficial?
Would anyone really notice a difference from a H pipe or X pipe on a butt dyno?

 

Everything I read was that they are normally so close you can’t even tell. It come down more to room and desired sound

Now if we can just find more people that run complete 3in from headers back with x and h pipes on N/A. That would be great. I know there’s a few on YouTube but most are on SC. Or very out dated. Maybe Keith has some new videos, or others on here will have some videos to put out soon. Especially with how many more people are putting headers on.
