Fluid exchanges

hey guys, looking for some input. I recently purchased a 2012 Rock Warrior crewmax, just rolled over to 86k miles, my question is, I’m not sure when or if the diff’s, trans and transfer case fluids were changed. I’m leaning towards to replacing all those when the truck hits about 90k. I don’t haul heavy loads or tow very often, mostly a pavement princess(for now) lol. Any input would be good. Thanks

 

If it were my truck I would go ahead and change all the fluid to give it a fresh start.

 

The way I see it, if you are not sure, change it at 90K. Certainly can't hurt and you will have peace of mind.

 

Additionally, you'll get to know your truck better after you get under it.

Along the lines of fluid exchange, what is a good brand that everyone uses? My RW has a LSD also.

Read your manual. There is one on this site for all Tundras. Its under ‘General Tundra Talk’. Its a sticky thread.

 

That statement implies you have a true mechanical limited slip differential. If that's the case, use the fluids and additives recommended by the differential manufacturer.
If it's the stock OEM unit, it's an open differential and does not require friction modifier additive. The brakes do all the work under computer control.

Sorry, I was....never mind.

 

I use royal purple diff oil in my 2000 and my 2013 tundras.It has the additive already in it and it is synthetic.
