Sway bar.

I have a 2018 Tundra Trd sport with front and rear trd sway bars stock, and I put fox 2.5 coil overs that obviously were pricey, I was wondering if the hd Trd sway bars are going to effect the performance of the fox suspension because on road the sway bars are great but when off road it seems like it could possibly be holding back the coil overs performance. Thanks

 

From what I have read on here from other members that the F/R sway bars are not a good idea to have on when off-roading, I could be wrong, someone else will chime in on

 

You need to either get quick disconnects or possibly have to lose the rear sway bar if you off road a lot. Check out Helwig's sway bar offering. You can get quick disconnects that may possibly work on the TRD sway bar.

 

I took my front bar off completely. They don't make sway bar disconnects for the Tundra because how little the sway bar drops.
Personally with the bar off I get a little more body roll on roads, but the difference off roads and over pot holes makes it. Hope this helps.

 

I was talking about the rear sway bar quick disconnects that Helwig makes for the Tundra. Quick disconnects wouldn't be feasible on the front sway bars and a potential safety issue.

How much spring rate in the coilovers?

 

Not sure lol. There 2.5 fox racing series coil overs with reservoir m. I’d have to look up the specs when I get home.

 

Not a good idea to have sport tuned sway bars on off-road suspension.

 

Yea that’s what I’ve been hearing. The sway bars are stock so just deciding what to do with them.

 

Should I take it completely off or swap it out for the black oem one? Thanks.

 

If you do like high speed off roading the sway bar would be a good idea! But slow speed rock crawling type no sway bar is good

 

Rear sway bar stock? Wow. That is something on my list to buy at some point. But I don't do off roading...other than to pick up dead deer from cornfields when hunting.

 

The rear sway bars that I've seen for sale on this site seem to sell quickly.

 

For a truck my TRDOR Limited W/TRD Sway Bars handles great on Hwy/logging Road travel as well as beach/dune running. Having similar suspension as your set-up installed Tuesday. Will be keeping mine unless I feel a noticeable decline in performance.
Unless you are needing max articulation during your off road adventures, i'd leave's on.

I have both TRD F/R Sway Bars on stock suspension on my SR5 and I can tell you that they work great for cornering. They take out the body roll. I've noticed that after installing them especially the front, my suspension is a bit more stiff. The articulation is limited and the ride not the same. I don't have the sport tuned shocks either.

 

Yea I have the new 2018 Trd sport package so it comes stock with front and rear trd sway bars and hood scoop. And those trd sway bars are a lot beefier than the stock ones so that’s my issue. I spent a lot of money on the fox coil overs and don’t want to waste there potential ya no!

 

Nice. Yea my dad has a Tundra without the sway bars and mine definitely feels night and day, like on rails around corners. But I can tell there definitely limiting the Fox coil overs.

 

Yea don’t get me wrong I love the sway bars on road makes it handle on rails, and minor dirt roads are not bad. But I went a little more aggressive the other day and the front felt kind of jaring which should happen with $1500 coil overs on the front lol. Most of my time is on road probably 70/30 so most likely I’ll keep them on or maybe downgrade the front to the stock black sway bar that’s less weight and less beefy. Let me know what your suspension set up will be andhow your experience is with the new combination when you get it installed. Thanks for your response.

If so, what hi/low settings have you found to work best for every day & off rd?

 

Right on. I got the 2.5 with the reservoir but I didn’t get the dsc.
