Hi all. I have a 2014 tundra with the jbl system. My question is can I change the speakers and keep the factory amp or will that need to be replaced.

Also if anyone has taken all their jbl system out I'm interested in buying. I'm not 100% sure if the door speakers are still in there I'm going to hook up my HU and open up the door panel.

The speakers in the jbl systems seem to be decent. Its the head unit and processor that are poo poo.

Do it right and gut the entire system.

If you replace your headunit and get some kind of adapter to make it all flow, forgot what it's called, you'll probably be fine. Many say a new headunit really helps the stock system come alive

Only problem is I don't know what is installed. I bought it from an auction and the owner took everything out. I have to open up the door panel to see if the speaker is still there. Just waiting on the body shop

Best bet would be to check and see what's there and what's not and report back. There are 3 speakers I'm dash. 2 speakers in all 4 doors, amp under passenger seat, and should be a sub behind driver side back seat.

Are the front speakers different size depending on the package? I've seen some people say 6.5 and some say 6x9

at this point I'd say it's a no-brainer to go full aftermarket

I think 6x9 is only for the front and 6.5 are for the rear

Dont waste your time and money. Get aftermarket stuff and start fresh

    ^^^ this
New head unit. 5 channel amp. Components in doors, new sub and be done with it. Just disconnect dash speakers. Some days I wish my truck was stripped out lol.

I think the size isn't exactly 6x9, most get adapters with speakers and run 6.5 or 5.25 components in doors. And if you're running a sub there's really no need for 6x9s

looking to replace factory Radio with a pioneer avix588bhs
front are 6x9 but they come with a housing that needs to be replaced because they don't sit flush against the frame. back are 6.5. There's also an install depths you gotta meet. I love my pioneer hu but kenwood offers more features for the same price.

Do not waste time or money to install factory JBL amp and speakers especially since you have an aftermarket headunit. The factory JBL amp has a lot of noise to it. Just go full aftermarket and be done. I kept the JBL headunit so I had to install an expensive processor to provide a full range signal to the aftermarket amps.
