Hey y’all. I’m from Abilene Texas. I’ve had 5 different land cruisers/Lexus over the last 15 years. Everything from 60 series to 100 series. I own a small residential remodeling company and have had a 7.3 PS F250 for the last 5 years to haul around a 14’ cargo trailer. I finally got a shop built at my house so I am looking to ditch the full time trailer hauling and get out of the diesel repair funding business. I’m on the hunt for 2010-ish CM. This has been the best Tundra forum I’ve come across. I’m a long time member at ih8mud.com for my land cruiser habit. Thanks for having me!

    Welcome from Houston area (north)!

How are you getting out of “full time trailer hauling” with a short bed? Maybe need a DC long bed? (Love my CM, but I don’t really need the extra bed space..)

I agree this is the best Tundra forum! Welcome.

I may be looking for a beater Land cruiser for a project/short distance commuter in a few months, I love them!

Any pictures of your old rigs would be appreciated!

The DC (double cab) has (of course) less cab room than the CM, but if your back seat riders are of average size (under 5'10" or so) they'll ride back there comfortably on a long haul and you'll have the extra bed room. Again, I dont have a DC, but there was a debate on here recently and that's what I walked away with. 6' or taller and they'll still likely fit, just far less comfortable (wouldnt do road trips with them in the back). I think DC also comes with some nice storage compartments under the rear seats, but you can add that to the crewmax after market if you are so inclined.

I agree with everything you just said. The flexibility of the CM rear seats is the real draw for me. Being able to run them forward and have storage behind them of fold them down and strap gear to the molded plastic back.

Flexibility of the CM (crewmax - full rear doors)?
Unless the 2018s are different my 2017 the rear seats only fold up. I think pre 2014 they folded down (not up).
Maybe the DC (double cab 3/4 rear door) has those features.. I have never been in one :)

I too h8mud. No kids here yet so I can’t speak to hauling them. As much as I loved the 100, I really love the Tundra. We needed the bed space for camping and will eventually put a light slide in camper in. Less tech and more bs here than mud but when help is needed it’s there. I think there’s just less tech needed so far...solid trucks!
