Yes, but I am working on it. I had to replace the 22” low pro tires and rims first...I live off road. At Toyota right now getting a spare key and new fob. I promise the six pipes will be soon, lol.

There does seem to be a 100% agreement among the internet and people I know in person that the exhaust gotta go! I have not even found another on line. This guy had unique tastes, haha.

Hey, at my age, I just appreciate ANY attention, lol. Joke away, I knew my six tail pipe tips are like waving a red flag in front of a bull...I came on this morning to start learning about my exhaust options.

 

So I just did my dual exhaust on my Tundra utilizing a 2.5" x-pipe and 2.5" Dynomax super turbos. Hind site being 20/20 I should have followed my own rules as well as others and measure twice and cut/weld once. I measured once and cut/welded and it was WRONGGGGGGGGGG. Spent the day cutting, prepping and re-welding my x-pipe, mufflers and stock flange assemblies to get it perfect. What should have taken me a few hours took the better part of 2 days. However that being said, its highly doable and the results were well worth it. No loss of power. More "Civil" response in beast mode, more even keel pulling to rev limiter and I even noticed better shift points. Been driving for a week plus now to give it time to "learn" and its still the same. So I am very happy with the results.

I was very apprehensive about these mufflers being too loud. They only measure like 14" and I had run the 17748 which is a 20" muffler and was very close to stock. I was very pleasantly surprised when I fired it up with no tail pipes and was greeted by a very mellow tone.

NOTE: They did require slight massaging at the outside lip of both sides so they sat "flush" against each other when installed. They bell out in the middle of the muffler body/flange and would not fit the x-pipe without minor massaging. I put them in my vise and squeezed them down until they were reasonably straight and fit against each other flush.

Decent product, however the pipes were not "straight" on one side and kind of angled in towards each other which caused me some fitment issues that I had to deal with on the other end.

I will get part numbers for the tail pipes but they were "universal" 2.5" Aluminized truck tailpipes that went straight out the back instead of out the sides. Very nice fitment with reasonable adjustability. They were $70 each cash and carry and they threw in some nice frame brackets with rubber isolators too boot. For being "universal" the fit was spot on. I have to make a slight adjustment to my drivers side as its sitting a little lower than the passenger and angled slightly outboard just haven't had the time.

The ever important Tone discussion. Its slightly louder than stock which is what I was going for and they have that Dynomax "Moan" I really like. Its more civil for me than flowmasters raspy over tone and fart pipe sound. There is a very slight drone around 55-60 mph and I do mean slight like maybe 1-2db higher than stock if that. No drone once so every at highway speeds and it sounds great when you hit the go peddle to the floor.



This was the first mocked up which again I should have waited and fit first before welding. The plan was to cut at the shorter flange and connect up to the factory pipe for the longer side. I came up about 4" too long of where I wanted to be (the rear openings were at the frame cross over and I wanted to be before that to get the pocket where the factory muffler sit to utilized the full factory heat shield and allow more space to go up if needed). I switched gears entirely and welded the X-Pipe straight to the mufflers, cut the factory pipes with flanges off the factory muffler and mocked it all up. Marked, tacked reassembled 5 times for fitment. I'll get some pics of it installed. The flanges match up perfectly and the mufflers sit right where I wanted them to. With the offset on the rear outlet the universal tailpipes went in like it was factory and a simple clamp is used for them.

All of this was compounded by my welder (110v lincoln wire feed) first running out of mix gas and then wire feed not working properly. That's what happens when you don't use the welder for 10+ years. Welds weren't as clean as I would have liked but I got great penetration (thats what she said) and had to turn it down a few times because I was eating through the pipe...

 

Good to see people are fabricating on here. I plan to go a similar route, but with long tubes, a muffled X pipe and smaller magnaflow flow through mufflers.
Only caveat will be the 304 stainless and TIG welding the whole thing.

I had the 24" Magnaflow installed and was my first mod. Truck sounded good at high RPM's when I would pass on the freeway but other than that, it sounded stock with a ton of drone and I regretted the purchase, especially during hunting season. It took me forever to purchase a DD 8" system since the muffler was already aftermarket but when I did, I gained a few MPG's over the Magnaflow.

For a simple average swap out on a Tundra how long does it take ya DD? Curious as I'd be travelng 1.5 hours. TIA
