So I hardwired a dash cam and went the add-a-fuse route, but I'm wondering which side of the fuse box by the kick panel is "hot". I know it matters which way you insert the add-a-fuse l, but someone is borrowing my multimeter so I can't check at the moment. I'm wondering whether the side with the yellow line or the red line is the hot side in the pic below?

Interesting. I just recently re-wired every accessory in my truck and decided to add a separate fuse block to run everything to. I don’t think I’ll ever run/tap into any factory harness/fuse again after going through 2 body ECUs ($900 a pop - pun intended)

Cool, thanks. You said you shorted out the fuse, so I assume that wire you added is going directly into the "hot"/power side (not actually being protected by the fuse). I actually made a little test light and came to the conclusion that the side you have your wire plugged into in that pic is indeed the hot side. Thanks again.

The fuse block was pretty inexpensive. All it takes is time...and plenty of wire & connectors ;)
