No! It bothered me too. So picked up a locking gas cap from Stant, been good for over 2 years no problem.

The thieves around St. Louis will punch a hole in your tank if it's got a locking cap or fuel door.

The tweakers in Vermont are too lazy/stupid to bother stealing gas.

That happened to me twice in LA. Quite pricey. No more locking gas caps for me. Replacing gas is cheaper than a gas tank for sure.

If you saw how easily you could defeat lost locking gas caps, you'd likely skip the whole ordeal. The metal ones are the best of the worst.
California tweekers prefer catalytic converters over gas, and with our laws, if caught the end up at the country club for a few weeks at best.
Its a tough dilemma for all of us.

Some folks will still steal anything they don't want to pay for. A neighbor recently came out to his truck and found his cats were sawed off ....with all that meowing going on you'd think he'd wake up...heh...heh..

I locked my tailgate with that clamp thing almost right away. California is ground zero for the meth zombies. Heroin addicts are too tired to steal anything that requires even minor exertion.

there are some crazy stories lol Yea, those human trash steals anything. For me tho, I have lost 3 motorcycles, a complete cat back (apparently they just jacked the car and took the whole thing)
Here in TX, haven't heard "gas" getting stolen prolly bcuz it's so cheap here. And I am running E85 so good luck with that lol
