Brake pads and rotors

    idk if this is the right spot, but lately my brakes have been sounding AWFUL. Not screaming but they are definitely louder, you can hear them grinding. Even when im not pressing the brake you can hear it. It has been raining , but ive never noticed it before when it rains? Do you think i need to change the brakes? Maybe even the rotors? Ill go out there and get a pic of the rotors

    Hitting the warning track on the pads probably. As for rotors, they are based on thickness. Can’t tell from just looking Take a set of calipers to see if they are still good. If they are you can go get them turned. I usually just buy another set of rotors so I have everything I need.

    I would agree with Adam. Buy new rotors is typically the easier was to go versus having the rotors turned if your going to DIY. Make sure you change all the pads if you turn your rotors or replace them. Power stop offers some very reasonably priced rotor and pad packages.

    Well well well.. do i have a story for yall. The noise was louder on the passenger side so i took that one off first, just to find that the brake pad was completely GONE. Heres a comparison. E4464885-9C99-4BB5-913B-58D705D62858.jpg
    From that brake pad , it messed up the rotor and caliper pretty darn bad. But , at the time i only noticed the rotor was messed up, so i went to autozone and got (2) rotors so i can replace them at the same time. Even though only one was messed upBE2364F4-89F8-48D1-B0E8-81D1997D153F.jpg
    Then , im begin to try and put the brake pads on and the caliper isnt retracting.. soooo back to autozone to get a caliper... then we get to the next wheel (driver side) and the same thing. So i go to autozone, by my house, and a location furtherrrr out has it. So i go over there, go home , AND ITS THE WRONG PART. They gave me a passenger side... SO BACK TO AUTOZONE.     The 1st gens are notorious for warped rotors. Been driving with the warped slow downs for years. Wonder why your low pad sound warning didn’t activate?

    My mechanic changed both front sides for me when doing the new shocks, ball joints, CV, etc.

    Ceramic pads, new rotors, and labor $250 total.
