Just got a 2012 Tundra Rock Warrior and went to hide my Ipod in the empty space between the power outlets on the lower dash. I notice there is a hole in the back with a wired plug in the back of this space.
What is meant to be here?

    Thanks

Welcome from Arizona. Don't know about the wired plug on your vehicle; mine doesn't have one. I also still have an iPod - still going strong and it comes in handy in vehicles that have a jack but no wireless connectivity.

Sounds like it. Mine is just a cubby hole. I'm still rocking an ipod too. Best way to listen to just the music I want to. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have a new HU installed and maybe that will change.

iPod is still best for sound quality, especially wired instead of Bluetooth. My 120 gig iPod classic just died on me after ten years. RIP old friend.

Nope, that switch is off the dash near the steering column. This one is centered between the lower dash power plugs

Usb connections are still the highest quality for car audio but i gotta say, droid's 'Poweramp' has updated it bluetooth quality substantially. You can definitely tell. And all the new added in bluetooth audio codexs' in oreo are really starting to make bluetooth streaming worth it.

Isnt the next Bluetooth generation also just around the corner?

    Im kinda excited about that.

The Ipod has my full collections of audio and has not failed me in 12 years so I will stick with it. Simple

Beside the USBs there is a slot for the glass break sensor. Perhaps that's the hole you speak of.

OP has a 2012 so it’s a second gen tundra. Yours will look different than his.

Looks like someone added that plug. I don’t recall seeing that plug on my two previous second gen tundras.

That is not stock, someone added that for something.

    Trailer brake controller maybe?
