If not off roading much maybe once a year and not going hard but with billstein 5100 at highest setting and 295 70 18 Ridge grappler do u need UCA ?

It’s more for alignment unless you’re looking at Total Chaos. 3”+ of lift I would get aftermarket UCA’s.

If you can get it aligned in spec and aren't off-roading a ton then you probably don't need new UCAs.

There is an on road improvement when you hit a bump or situations where the suspension droops, when you have a uniball UCA it allows for more travel especially when paired with a coilover that can travel holding hands and skipping with the UCA.

I had 5100s at top setting and didn't go to aftermarket UCA until I went with an extended length C/O which lifted it a little more than 3". IMO no, you don't need 'em............ yet.

I've had Bilstien 6112's up front at top setting around 2.5" with 295/70/18 Ridge Grapplers on my 17 for around 9000 miles now and zero problems and very rarely been offroad, the ride has been outstanding with no issues! I was going to pot UCA's on but the folks here said wouldn't really need them unless I went 3+", so I opted not too!

As @T-Rex266 said, an aftermarket UCA is primarily for alignment but the TOTAL CHAOS UCA's do offer some extra benefits.

If you're running 2.5-3+" of lift then I'd recommend considering upgrading the UCA. When lifting a vehicle with stock UCA's you are reducing the caster which can cause wandering or darting of the vehicle. This is primarily noticeable on 3"+ lift applications.

The TOTAL CHAOS UCA has positive caster built-in which allows for factory alignment specs on lifted applications. On top of that our arms feature urethane bushings and stainless steel uniballs for maximum performance and easy maintenance. Throw in the 4130 chromoly construction and you have a UCA that will withstand lots of abuse.

If you're noticing problems aligning the vehicle, or poor performance on & off-road, a UCA might be the perfect solution. We have more information on our Toyota Tundra UCA's here or in the thread below. Post up if you have any questions

I'm running 6112's on the top setting with CB shims basically right at 3" with stock UCA's and it aligns just fine. I will say try it without and if it aligns ok then you are good to go if not get a top quality UCA. Total Chaos is definitely my first choice but there are other manufacturers that make high quality UCA's that are built correctly as well.

I run Icon coilovers at 3in and am completely fine with no UCA's and have been for a long time. I beat on my truck as well on road and offroad. That being said, my next truck will have them.

Now if I have 5100s on front and rear .....what is the way to get the 3 inch lift now that I added 295 70 18 seems like I need at least 1 to .5 inches more of lift but is that even capable of doing on the 5100s?
