Bedrug - buy online or through a “local” dealer?

Having read threads about bed liners here and having done some research online, I’m convinced that I want a Bedrug for my truck. Now the question is where to buy it? I see that I can buy one directly from Bedrug or from a “local” dealer. The closest “Bedrug preferred” dealer is 20 miles away through LA traffic. There are a couple dealers closer, but they’re not “Bedrug preferred,” whatever that means.

Where did you buy yours and why from that source? Did you opt for the best price or was there some other reason you choose the dealer you did?

    Thanks

I bought mine on-line. I just looked for the best price. Personally, I wouldn't waste money on the tailgate piece. It just doesn't stay in place with the adhesive tape after following the instructions and reapplying it several times. I do have a spray-on bed liner and hard tonneau cover. I didn't use/expose the adhesive tape under the rug so I can take it out with ease when not needed. With the tonneau cover, the rug is rarely removed. It's great on the knees when crawling around in the bed to retrieve items. Cleaning is very easy. I had a fuel can leak on it once. I removed the bed rug and hosed it down. No residual smell, stain or evidence of fuel. I did not purchase the whole bed (with sides) rug. Just the piece for the tailgate and bed floor.

I was looking at them too. Amazon has them cheaper than the bed rug website. Free shipping

Go check out Autoanything.com. You can chat with the reps and ask for a deal. I just ordered a Bedrug mat (not the whole liner) and they knocked about 8% off the price, which was better than I saw anywhere else. However, the guy that packed the mat in the box folded it poorly and it kind of "cracked" in one spot, so I had to exchange it.

I bought local to support local biz and installed myself. I've had no issue with the tailgate piece and it's stayed firmly in place since install.

Nah, I agree with you. I do try to shop locally when I can, especially if the service is friendly. There are a lot of mom-and-pop shops where the owners/employees are total a-holes which doesn't make it easy for people to pay higher prices there vs an online store.

Very cushy and I've had by BedRug for almost 3 years now and tailgate piece still sticking quite fine. I bought mine near new off Craigslist for $200! Had to come up with my own Velcro. Went to Home Depot and got the best and widest.....

Another vote for buying local. Granted, it is easier to buy online and have it delivered to your door. But as @SouthBoundSteve said, buying local helps support local business. It also supports some of your fellow Tundras.com brothers like myself and others on here who make our living helping people mod their trucks. I can't speak for other shops but at mine we're always happy to match an online price if possible and if there's a problem with a product we try our best to fix the issue quickly and without a hassle.
As far as sleeping on one, I can't say that I have but my dog sleeps on mine all of the time :D

I bought mine local. I see that you are from Torrance. There’s a great dealer in la, north of where you are. Got mine from DACO. Got my camper and bedrug. Negotiate with them. I’m a repeat customer. They do a good job there. Had some issues with some things, and they quickly repaired it.

I agree. The problem is that my local isn’t very local.

True. If you get the whole liner you can use the promotion codes, but if you get just the mat you have to chat for any sort of deal.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just ordered my Bedrug from them. Installation is included and they are dog friendly, so my dobie can come with me when it’s installed.
While I’m there, I’ll take a look at the shells.

I took the autoanything price and made a local match it. With the new tax law, the merchant is now responsible to collect anyway.

The biggest issue for some retailers on the local level is they simply order from a similar site and call you when it arrives and they do it at a substantial markup. I can do that, and save $$ Lol

My local has a storage facility that's shared and has the items available within 24 hrs. That's service... And at a good price.
If your honest and don't attempt to make all your profits off me and it happens to help the local economy, great.
If you fleece the community and go out of business, that's the merchants fault.

I'll be attempting it next week when my new bedrug arrives. Not sure if I'm going to drill through the bed rug and attach the lights directly to the bed or just make some sort of backing plate and attach them just to the rug.

Finally got around to installing the bedrug with the LED bed lights. I was going to make a thin plastic backing plate to go on the back side of the bedrug, but for now I did it this way. The LED lights aren't heavy at all, so unless someone in purposely tugging on them and trying to pull them out, they should be fine.
