I’ve seen some comments here and there but wanted a general consensus on dusters. I have had an “original California car duster” for years and am now a little skeptical to use it on the new rig. Living near the coast brings dew during the night and lots of pollen and everything else to stick to it in the morning. My truck looks dirty within a day or two of washing it. I know a little bit of surface scratches are inevitable. I’m not super anal about detailing, that’s why I’m asking about the lazy upkeep between weekend washes. Wondering who uses them or is totally against them and why? Is it worth it in the long run? Do you ever clean the duster and how often? Any other similar methods you use?

I’m not about rubbing dirt around on my dry paint.

I use to use the California car duster on my Honda. It’s rough on the paint. I would not recommend it. It’s better to leave the dust and wash it when your ready rather than rubbing dirt around with a duster. Or you can move inland into the boonies like the rest of us poor folk ;)

I’m talking about very fine pollen and some dust. I hear you guys on not doing anything until it’s washed. I just hate seeing it sitting dirty all week. I do Drive her to work once a week but for the most part she’s a weekender.

I will use one as long as the truck isn’t too dusty and it’s just been washed and waxed. After I wash the truck I will typically dust it for the next few days in the evening. Sometimes after the second dusting I will wipe the truck down with quick spray wax or detailer. After about a week or 2, I quit and wait for the next wash.

I used to have a tricked out black 69 Plymouth Duster with the 340 and TorqueFlite auto back in 1974....Loved it...does this count??

I wouldn’t use the duster, not even on my old 2005 Accord.

They work well for garage kept toys that always have a fresh coat of wax on them.

I sometimes use my car duster for the next couple of days after washing the truck. It removes the dust/pollen just fine. Once it's dirty though, no more duster.
