1 question bc I looked into the same cover u got. Lot of the genuine leather wheel covers say NOT to use on the rubber steering wheel, only on leather wheels. Any idea why or did this particular cover not say that? Seems silly to me that a leather wrap can't or shouldn't according to bunch of the manufacturers go on top of rubber, only leather, duh if it was leather to begin with I probably wouldn't need the product. Obviously I'm looking to wrap the rubber with leather. I probably wouldn't be having this problem then. Anyone know if this is ok to do, or why they all say don't wrap the leather on top of rubber wheel?

Not that I've done this yet, but I went ahead and bought one.
I've watched most of this guys stuff from the vid below. My thought was that I would use a good soapy water to clean the rubber steering wheel, then scuff it a bit, especially in the worn/smooth parts. Then add a bit of contact cement before putting down the cover.
The glue that he uses is the same stuff as Weldwood Contact Cement. I bought some a while back at Lowes, as I'm also planning to cover some of the upper trim pieces with some suede.

I'm just wondering why a lot of leather covers specifically say not to put on top of a rubber steering wheel, that it is only meant to cover a leather wheel? I looked a little bit into the 1 you referenced above Rich and it appears to be ok for a rubber wheel like in our pros. It specifically mentions going on top of leather or rubber. However if you picked a different option like 1 of the ones next to same cover with suede it again specifically says not to put on rubber. How can the cover be ok 1 way but not other if it's the same just some added material. I'd say most, if not all, the other leather covers I looked into all had some type of warning or caption saying not to use on rubber wheel.

Does anyone know anything about this? I'd love to do it, but all the warnings I've seen got me a little hesitant to take a shot at it. Somebody on this site got to know something about it. Is it safe to do and why or why not? Someone on this site gotta have the knowledge to teach me something. Who is it?

 

Reading through the full descriptions, I think it will be fine. It notes in the description, it comes with double-sided tape, which I'm assuming to do the same thing the contact cement would do. I wont be using it.

IF...there really is a difference in the size, the only thing that I can think of is the finger grooves on the back of our wheels. Being that they fit the Tacos and Seq, I'm not certain of all the various designs.

I went with the suede and perf. combo. I'll let you know how it turns out if you're going to wait.

 

Double-sided tape is good to use around the controls that's the only place I used it it helps keep the cover in place while you sew it and helps tightening it against the wheel. With my cover the finger grooves naturally poked out and it feels Factory Pro tip the provided double-sided sticky tape is trash I used a 3M tape to hold better

Thanks! I think it does too. You wouldn't think it, but the 1.5" lift up front makes it that much taller that I really need to get the AMP power boards installed quickly.

I just ordered these. I'm going to use them to inject spots on the wheel that need adhesive. In my case the only areas that need some adhesive is on the back side of the wheel behind the controls. There are a couple wrinkles that need some love. Everywhere else is tight, feels and looks factory.

 

Spent the day at the beach on Sanibel Island. Time to give her a bath after this.

 

It comes with rails that clamp onto your bed sides. The main reason I chose the Encore was the fact that the front panel closest to the cab can open. I was torn between the Bakflip MX4, Undercover Ultra Flex and the Extang Encore. I ended up choosing the Encore for a few reasons. It opens in the front, comes off the truck in seconds (seriously it takes 30 seconds to remove it), and has composite panels instead of aluminum - meaning if I get a hail storm (which we get a lot of in N TX) it won't ruin the cover.
