If you hear a rattling noise under your truck it maybe either a rusted clamp holding your heatshield or the heatshield itself because the clamp is no longer proper. The fix was done three years ago using a stainless steel snake clamp purchased at the big box. The top pick is the fix after. The bottom pick is the fix after with me holding the old original clamp that used to be there. There are about 4-6 of these clamps that I’ve replaced and they are all around the heatshields surrounding exhaust pipe turns. Solves the clinking and ticking sounds from rusty clamps.

I'll bet that's exactly what I'm hearing. I only really notice it when I'm parking and apply the brake. I recently replaced my muffler, and the clamp doesn't fit completely tight on the new joint. But it doesn't seem to rattle. I'll have to check the heatshields!

Hand Protectors

Wiped off all the fluids off chassis that the mechanics left behind. Tuned up a couple fittings and connections. Cleaned off all the CV axle grease that the old joints threw. It was pretty thick grease, so I wiped the excess that built up on the rag and wiped down the frame with it. Frame shined right up and looks almost as good as the California boys trucks!

Pics are of the truck bed drain grommets. Took them out and flushed between the plastic bed liner and truck bed. Lots of mulch type material flushed out. About 10lbs. worth of debris. Will be leaving the drain grommets off as they seem to hinder the natural flushing process.

Those bed liners tend to collect a ton of debris and water often leading to rust and potentially holes down the line if not cleaned out frequently. I removed mine the first day I bought the truck. Then prepped and rolled on Hurculiner.

There was 15 years of stuff under there. Mostly mulch. Shined a flash light while levering a shovel to prop the liner up and hosing the water. Did about 10 flushes from different angles. Visual shows no rust but some abrasions for sure. Leaving to drain grommets off will help tremedously.

Then an hour later i had to go get a texas one because i LOVE Texas

So now i have two flags.. the US one is double stitched so it will last a long time, but i need to find a double stitched Texas Flag to replace this one before it starts ripping

My Fumoto oil drain valve showed up today. Just waiting for the hose and safety clip to show up, then it's oil change time. Going to change the air filter as well, though it probably doesn't need it.

What do you guys like for oil filters? Toyota OEM or do you buy something else? I won't touch Fram with a 10ft pole but I've heard great things about the NAPA filters which are actually Wix filters rebranded.

Greased my propeller u joint zerks (that the shop was suppose to do but looked like they used the wrong grease so I did it myself). Ended up the shop just squirted some red thick stuff on the zerk tips. How do I know? They were pretty dry and when I pumped my spec grease in there the shop grease (red stuff) did not ooze out before my grease did.

I greased the 5 joints 3 times after test driving each time so the grease could work itself around by movement. Could see that after each successive grease up and drive time that the grease was oozing out in different places. The low intermittent growl at speeds I used to hear is gone. Thing is driving so quiet now.

For some reason the 4wheel drive propeller zerks would not accept the grease. I checked with a nail to make sure the zerk ball wasn’t blocked. Stymied on that one.

Followed up on the bed liner clean out yesterday and fabbed some drain plugs out of electrical bushings. Spotted and drilled a location hole from underneath the bed. Then drilled using a 7/8” spade bit down from the topside. Inserted the bushing and now there is a drain where it used to collect water until I drove out of the driveway watering the street.

Been working on some fit’n finish stuff this week. Addressed the slight wobble on the engine hood at speed. It had a distracting wobble thats an easy fix. I started out by tightening the latch bolts (were slightly loose). The key part of the fix was the adjustment of turning the black hexagon bumpers counter clockwise (out). The hood now has tension against the latch and doesn’t wobble.

Today I addressed the hazy headlights. Simple fix took rubbing alcohol to clean and then some compound and a wheel. Spent more time to prep then it took to actually polish them and made a huge difference!

I've always oiled them in all my stuff.
Never had a problem,BUT...... I always cleaned my MAF every oil change just because I'm a weirdo.

This one is (oil free) out of the box. I'm going to keep it that way.

Friday is pay day so I will gas up and drive like I normally do and see if there is any change in. MPG.
Right now I'm at 17mpg .
I drive my Mercedes to work most of the time because it get 30mpg.

I used high temp STP grease on my supercharged Tacoma.

I think as long as you grease it with anything it will be fine.
The people that have problems are the people that use grease at all.

Molybdenum disulfide lithium. $5 a jar at auto store. The rear propellor are 5 zerks and grease up easily. I grease till the grease oozes out a bit and then drive and then grease again. Still trying to figure out why the 4wd propellor shaft zerks (2) are not accepting grease. Read its a common problem. Might need a needle tip on the gun?

Tried to go full LED in the front. Replaced the side markers/blinkers on one side. Tried to turn on blinker and I started blowing fuses. Back to normal bulbs for now. Passenger side is LED in this pic
