Replacing my cabin air filter. Original has “this side up”. New one only has air flow direction. Anyone know which way the air flows? Up or down?

Never mind. Pretty sure air flow is down. The up side on the stock filter had all the dirt.

The filter has arrows. Wasn’t sure which way the air flow was on the truck.

My filter doesn’t have an “up”. It only has an air flow direction. Which was down.

Lol. If the air filter has arrows that say “this side up”, then the arrows should point up. But if the filter has arrows indicating the air flow direction, then the arrows have to point down. Looks like the air flows downward because my old filter had all the dirt on the top side of the filter.

Hello????? The outer plastic cover that you remove indicates air flow direction....insert filter accordingly...just sayin...and I've had two CO high octane craft brewskies....

Not necessarily. I ran into the same thing when replacing to an ACDelco filter. It got me for a sec though, although I'm in the HVAC trade.

The arrow on the filter goes in the same direction as indicated on the cabin filter housing cover.

Nobody got time for that.... Was done hastily, and only noticed when trying to put it back on.

Seems, after an exhaustive internet search (2 min. tops), it's a fairly common question. I think the OEM filter points up as does the outer plastic cover. However, I think, and read, the airflow is actually top to bottom which is consistent with the accumulated dust and debris. So, no OEM filters that indicate air flow direction are installed with air flowing down orientation. Wow, that was exhausting, I need a vacation. :notsure:

The one that says up is the old filter. The black one is the new one.

My line of thought is irregardless of air flow, I position the filter with the"arrow" the same direction as the cover.
