Yeah I saw that after I posted. I think for the price the Honda will win out, they are really gunning for KTM with the CRF450RX

Price on the Honda is 9599.00 and the KTM is 10299.00.

I also look at components and things like that. 600.00 difference isn't a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. My last Honda was bullet proof and dead on reliable. I haven't forgot about that.

KTM is brilliant, their site has all the upgrade parts available when scrolling through the specs of the bikes. So easy to turn a $10,900 bike into a $15,000 + bike.

Those are for Lock Out/Tag Out, or LOTO Boxes.

When we isolate equipment, we put locks on everything, place the keys inside the box, I lock it, test for zero energy, then authorize work on equipment. This keeps personnel and equipment safe.

Been looking at those damn KTM 500’s as well.

    I’m doomed.

I don’t want to drive a diesel truck 4-500 miles per month with a motorcycle in the bed. When my wife decimated our Tacoma, this kinda changed my plans on transportation.

Maybe I can find an old 2wd beater for 500.00

Just to make you doubt yourself. My last three bikes; (6'4 225lbs)
    WR450- wouldnt turn for shit
XCW450 - loved it, gobs of power everywhere but the PDS rear just didnt mesh with me.
6 months ago I went with a Husky TX300....best bike I have ever owned without question. Power from idle all they way up, handles like a mountain bike. Its going to take a lot for me to go back to a 4 stroke.

Sorry, I was lmao in another thread waiting to see a line through someones name.

Damn...how big of a boy are ya? LOL!

Two strokes are awesome. No doubt about it. My last one was in 2002, Honda CR250. It was bad ass at the race track, until my buddy came out with a 02' CR450. I called him Judas for a bit until I took 2 laps on it (ok, maybe it was like 20, and almost loaded it into my truck).

A 300cc 2smoke is more powerful than a 450cc 4stroker...and I would put it in the class of the 500cc KTM. I have no experience with this, but just my guess.

I haven't mentioned 2smokes much, but I have been looking at them. The KTM with fuel injection is pretty tempting.

The new 17/18 300 is nothing like the old ones. You can tame them down a bit so the hit is non existent or the other way. Its way more manageable in the tight stuff than you'd think, id even say it allows me to ride longer since it doesnt wear me out like the 450 did.

Btw rode up in the Durango/Mancos area last month before it shut down and was loving it compared to the 450.

    Are you in the area?

Like I said, I haven't dismissed out a 2smoke yet. To be honest, haven't even researched them yet, and I will. Might open up a plethora of new ideas.

If I end up not going with a 32' GN trailer or similar, the diesel might be a moot point anyway. I'll go pick up a next generation Tundra for my pleasure. Miss mine a lot.

Over in the Kansas City area the last few years from Eastern Washington.

Do some research on thumpertalk or ktmtalk. Both are a wealth of info. Worst case give me a call and I'll help you spend your money on frivolous toys.

Nah, there's always some BS when it comes to dirt bike horsepower numbers but the 4t 450s consistently dyno significantly higher than the 2t 300s. The benefits of the 2-stroke still come down to less weight and less rotating mass in the engine. Also gonna note this is stock for stock, yes you can modify either to make more power.

I’ll check out KTMtalk. I’m a member on thumpertalk.

This will boil down to some tough decisions.

This might be sooner than later. I may have just sold my camper tonight.
