So this is the first time i'm towing my 26' Mako with the new Tundra. Pretty impressive except for the squat due to about 700 lbs of tongue weight.

    t boat.jpg

I also just bought this little ole pop up camper that has a dry weight of 1030 lbs. We went camping for the a night and had no real issues at all except I need to figure out a better tie down system for it since the eye bolts are right over the bed rail cap. Does anyone know the d rings weight capacity in the bed?t camper.jpg

Nice! Which weight distribution hitch are you using for that boat?

Dry weight 1030 lbs on that camper. That doesn't leave much payload to play with. 500-600 lbs? Minus how much for the people? Gear?

    Just sayin.....

Firestone air bags will solve this issue.

Torqelift has everything you need for proper tie downs. On the rear, you can use button mounts, but I’m not sure how robust the bumper is to hold that kind of force.

None but im thinking about getting one.

Probably around 7000 lbs so well within limits and not nearly as heavy as the space shuttle.

I'll have to check that website out for tie down options.

I installed a set of those on my dads F150 a few years back. Pretty easy to do. He loved them for his in bed camper.

Oh. Ok. Then it must be totally within payload limits. o_O

I was just commenting that you don't have much room left before technically being overloaded. Not sure how many people you take with you on your camping trips, but I know that my family of five would chew up all of that extra payload. And 1030 dry weight is not what you haul when you go camping. You take gear. I know that I can easily rack up hundreds of pounds of gear.

Yeah, the Tundra will do it. But should it? The Tacoma probably shouldn't have (although there are certain configurations of Tacomas that have around 1600 lbs of payload also).

You should definitely get one. Anything over 5000 lbs requires one according to the manual. The hitch will fix the squat since your 7k lbs is well within load limits

Wouldn't air bags do the same thing and also help out with the slide in camper weight basically killing two birds with one stone?

That would help with the camper, but I still wouldn't deviate from the owner's manual on the hitch. Also, a WDH is much safer for carry those types of loads. @ColoradoTJ can tell you more about that

Adjust the boat, move it back on the trailer. looking at the picture you have the room. Did you buy the boat and trailer new? If not, it was set up to the previous owners truck. A WDH for a boat is a pain in the ass.
