It sounds like you're referring to the crewmax.

I've decided to keep my double cab for now. We are expecting our second child in August, so we will see. Truck will be paid off in 5 more months so it's hard to justify trading at this point.

I've had both, and honestly I prefer the Crewmax over the double cab. I wish the Crewmax had a little longer bed, but if it doesn't fit in the bed that is what the trailer is for. The rear air vents on the Crewmax make a huge difference compared to the double cab for rear seat occupants.

I have owned both as well. I have always enjoyed more bed space since I tend to move a lot and also mount a behind the window toolbox. I traded my CM on a DC.

You’d be surprised how much you can haul in a 6.5’ bed with a toolbox

I debated this as well. Just get a Crew Max and have the dealer throw in a tailgate extender. Problem solved.

Double cabs look way better are more functional and just make more sense then a crew max that can haul baby stuff. I mean who the heck wants to bring their kids and other family members with them. That's just crazy

I do wish the CM had a bigger bed. But, for my family, the CM just makes sense - we are tall people. The back seat of the double cab is tiny. I might have been able to fit back there comfortably when I was 13....maybe.

I also don't like what they do with the door handle on the double cabs, neither. Why not just make it look the same as the front door handle? Why the weird vertical body-color handle? Looks strange to me.

I have a double cab and have been quite comfortable in it on long vacations. I like that the seats fold up not down. I can put a lot of stuff back there if I get caught in the rain.

Just my two cents, I think the crewmax is a better-looking rig than the double cab. But it all depends on what you need it for. My family definitely won't fit in the double cab.

I prefer the look of the double cab better personally, but that is all opinion. I think a happy medium between the DC and CM would be the perfect compromise. I have had 3 adults in the back of my DC many times. Just recently I had 3 adults and my 45lb dog in the back seat and it was just fine for our 45min trip, no complaints.

the whole reason they made "4 door pickup trucks" was to make them more like cars, to sell more "trucks"

Some may prefer a bed, and utility over strapping in car seats. If I had to haul around car seats or family id be using a SUV or sedan for the job, and have a full sized bed available for work / utility parked nearby. I guess a CM and short bed allows someone to 'almost' have a truck without having to own a car at the same time ;)

I’d say go 5.7 DC. You can do the SDHQ short bed mod if you really want a shorter bed, I think that looks so good. 5.7 to me is just such a great motor.

Hammer or screwdriver? I mean, I like my CM - it’s great for what I use it for... but it really just depends if your backing out screws or pulling nails...

I don’t want to pay the insurance, price for the car, or maintenance on another vehicle... otherwise we could have an full size SUV AND a truck AND commuter cars.... not do we have the space for all those vehicles.... I wanted a truck to do truck stuff with, but also needed something practical for the family... we could have made a DC work, but the CM fits us way better.

Toyota makes both trucks to satisfy out different needs. Thank you Toyota for not being “one size fits all” in this regard.
